Tony Dale Martin, March 28, 2005
Residents reported hearing gunfire near the 1000 block of Fillmore Street in Lynchburg the morning of March 28, 2005.
When Lynchburg Police officers arrived, they searched the scene but found nothing.
Ten minutes later, officers received word from Lynchburg General Hospital’s Emergency Room, reporting that doctors were treating a Tony Dale Martin of Concord. He had been shot in the chest.
Martin, 41, had been sitting in the passenger’s seat of a car when a man approached his side of the car. After a brief discussion, the man shot Martin in the chest. The driver took Martin to the hospital, where he later died.
Investigators speculated Martin and the driver had gone to Fillmore Street to buy drugs and something went wrong.
