Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

I think Adam will be found quickly now, but I fear the worst. I hope that this is not what I fear, but the police arresting two men makes me think they know some harm has befallen Adam.

I know the UK's known as the surveillance state, but cctv really is proving useful in many criminal and missing persons cases. I just want to know when the UK is going to set up a national, publically accessible missing and unidentified database, like the US.

I think it's because Brit police can arrest and question someone 'on suspicion' and then just release them if they have no evidence to bring charges. In other countries hard evidence seems to be needed to make an arrest or search a property, and litigation for wrongful arrest seems much more common, especially in the US.

So in England you're allowed to go in bars at age 17? Praying this young man is ok.

No you are not, 18 is the minimum age. I cant understand how Adam was admitted to enter the bar as there are strict ID checks now to stop underage drinking. My daughter is 19, and when she goes out to clubs she is always asked for photo ID. If she didn't have it, she wouldn't be allowed to enter.

re: going into a bar. Were they actually pubs he went into? as you can go in a pub under 18, but not buy alcohol.

I hope he is found soon.

I have relatives in England but this is one subject we've never discussed and forgive my ignorance but what exactly is the difference in England between a pub and a bar? They're basically the same thing here where I live, but they are rarely called pubs.

I thought there was a rule in pubs (but not clubs) in England that you can go into one at 16, as long as you are in the company of an adult and don't drink alcohol?

Admittedly, it's a few years since I've been in an English pub and the last time I went to a club, they were called discos.

I just wish someone would make a law that if young people go out together, they have to come home together too

'The Fab Cafe' sounds like a cafe to me. Very confusing.

beachlvr, I think a pub is (very generally) just for drinking and eating, day and night, and a club is just for drinking and dancing, at night.
