Reporter disguises as priest at Schumacher hospital

An unidentified journalist has disguised themselves as a priest to get into the hospital room where race driver Michael Schumacher lies in a coma. He or she was apparently caught and ejected.

Uh huh. And funnily enough, none of the rest of the media have released the name of the journalist.....perhaps they don't know who it was...mmmm.

Thing is, Michael is in a coma so for certain they were not chasing an interview or comment. Just a photo of a man in a coma, at death's door.

Get well Michael. My thoughts are with his wife Corinna and his two children. I check everyday hoping for good news.

I have been following as well. I remember when he was a 'youngster' driving for Benetton - he has turned into a great man. Prayers for his recovery.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

Me too. Read today that he is "out of danger". Hope that is true but wondering (as surely many will) how severe/extensive his brain damage will turn out to be.

Other articles say that he is still battling for his life. Hoping for a lucky outcome!

Family have appealed for media to stop camping outside the hospital today. Results of French investigation (record time for French authorities!) into the accident are due Friday, so that will provide some distraction for reporters.

I don't know if it will result in someone else having full media glare turned upon them.....

    BBM

There used to be a great magazine called "Brill's Content" it was started by Stephen Brill. (All of that is from memory so there may be a few minor mistakes)

The magazine was a look at how journalism works. It showed how stories were obtained and criticized the media like Time magazine, Newsweek, TV news shows etc... will criticize the President or Congressman or Senators. I subscribed to it from day one. I think it was monthly. Not sure. Anyway, it didn't last long. IIRC, one of the last issues had a story on how Katie Couric negotiated her recent contract. (She was still on the Today show then.) I guess it turns out the media doesn't mind scrutinizing, but not being scrutinized.

I wish someone would start another magazine like that again. Especially with all the BS being spread around by the newsmedia these days.

Before I saw this thread I didn't even know Schumacher was injured. That's horrible. Here's the latest; http://www.theguardian.com/sport/201...t-induced-coma

Michael Schumacher being brought out of induced coma, says manager
    • Schumacher has been in coma for over four weeks
    • Seven-time F1 champion remains seriously ill
    Philip Oltermann in Berlin
The Guardian, Thursday 30 January 2014 06.50 EST

...In Britain patients with head injuries are usually kept in a coma for a week to ten days.

Andrews said he avoided the term "awaken" because it could trigger too high expectations among relatives. "I would expect Schumacher to survive," he said. "But we won't know his cognitive ability until at least three months after the injury."

Doctors will be slowly reducing the sedation over the next few days. If the pressure on the brain increases again, there is a possibility that Schumacher will be re-sedated. The worst-case scenario would be that the patient remains comatose without sedation. A more positive outcome would be a reactive state where the patient can lift a limb or obey basic commands....

    Now, when I first moved to Germany I'd heard all the stereotype stuff about Germans having;
    1) No sense of humor
    2) Actually having a sense of humor but it's so bad nobody else finds it funny.

I gotta say, in this case I find the stereotype to be true.

'German mag mocks Schumacher with front cover saying F1 hero now looks like scarred crash victim Niki Lauda'

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...cky-Lauda.html

ETA And how do they know what he looks like? Where they the ones dressing up as a priest to sneak in the hospital as well?

I'm German and I don't find this in the least bit funny. It's distasteful.

I hope Schumi gets out of his induced coma alright. There seem to be concerns that a 'natural' coma could follow.

As a lot of people here know, I have a sick sense of humor and I think that's not funny either. Stuff that's hurtful isn't funny. Also, when he comes out of this I'm sure he'll be able to laugh about it, but now is in extremely poor taste.

Sometimes with severe head trauma, it is not so much what the doctors are saying as what they're NOT saying. This is not sounding good. At all.
