I believe the library has cameras, they probably should be checked out ASAP and the librarians that work there should be talked to by LE. I will keep my eye out for these two since I am so close by and drive by the library regularly. I also will share their info on social media. Maybe they are staying with someone they know in the Hunterdon County area. I just hope they are safe. It has been extremely cold here the past few days and I am surprised these two (if it is Melissa and Jorge) are just walking around...

“We’re not sure if it’s them. It’s just a possibility,” Garfield Capt. Darren Sucorowski. “The woman reportedly thought it was too cold for the people to be walking outside and she offered them a ride.”
If they had the Honda, why would they need a ride? Where is the car, if this was Jorge and Melissa?

I read about this couple today in an article on the DM (links below to daily mail and other news sites)

What happened to this couple? Was it just a poorly conducted initial investigation that led to them finally being found weeks later in his car in the garage at her apartment complex?

Accidental carbon monoxide poisoning? Double suicide? Murder/suicide? Or something else?

Over the past few weeks, Pereira's cell phone was in use, but would quickly get turned off.

    Just jumping off that quote....

I wonder what they mean by that, "in use". Her wallet and jacket was left at home. Was her cell phone in the car with her or does someone else have it?

Does "in use" mean playing games on her phone, browsing the internet, texting, making calls, or just that the phone was "on". If it was used for communication, how many calls or texts were made over those weeks?

Investigators must know these things, are looking at the phone records, tracking the tower pings, etc.

And does "quickly turned off" mean the battery died, or was someone charging that phone while using it over the past few weeks and then turned it off? How soon was it turned off, before or after the bodies were found?

I just saw this. So they're found dead in his car in her garage three weeks later. Tell me how that works? LE never checked her garage? No one did?

I just posted this in the other thread, but it looks like they were in a secondary garage rented by Melissa's family for storage. It seems they were probably in there the whole time and no one checked because Melissa had the only key and they couldn't get it--which doesn't make sense to me either, but it seems to be. The family reports the battery was dead and the gas tank empty.

That is a sad ending. Sounds to me like they were seeking privacy in the garage (since the girl still lived at home) and they died by carbon monoxide poisoning in the enclosed garage.

Not really my business, but I wonder if they were dressed. If not, that is a good clue.

Dead car battery and dry gas tank. Sounds like they parked in the enclosed garage and didn't think about the exhaust fumes. Probably wouldn't take too long to be overcome, those garage spaces look really small. Good thing the garage wasn't attached to any occupied homes.

Still doesn't explain how her phone was "in use" during the weeks that the couple was supposedly dead.

    From mmecaut's link:

Pereira’s uncle, Sham Bacchus, said Monday that the family had told the police on Dec. 30 that they rent a garage for storage.

Bacchus said he went to the garage that day and banged on the locked door but was unable to get inside. Melissa Pereira, he said, had taken the only key.

He said police decided to search the garage Sunday after a wireless company determined the location of Pereira’s cell phone.

    Sounds like bad investigating, imo.

Once the cell phone company tracked the phone and told police where it was (in the garage) the couple were finally found.

Aside from positive comments about the couple from loved ones, the article has some "will not say", "it's unclear", and "couldn't be reached for comment" type CYA stuff about the officials.

Carbon monoxide, per this article. Though they are technically MSM, the Daily Mail is a shaky source.

Is anyone else bothered by the theory that the Daily Mail article above insinuates?

I get that they were young and in love wanting privacy. At the same time, they were supposed to be going away on a trip together to celebrate their anniversary. I think I read it was for a weekend? That's a lot of alone time. They couldn't have waited?

I don't really have any theories of my own. I just wanted to bring that point up. I live with my parents too so I understand the privacy thing. But my boyfriend and I have never gone to the garage.

Yeah, I find the theory a little wonky. If they went in there for some alone time, wouldn't they notice they were getting really sleepy? Plus the article says they were fully clothed.
Unless I've provided a link, most of what I say is my own opinion. Sometimes, I'm thinking out loud and may explore avenues I don't necessarily think are true, but I'm always aware I could be wrong, so I check other stuff out.

Maybe they were talking, listening to the radio, etc. it doesn't take long in an enclosed space.

Really sad! Perhaps the left the car running thinking it would provide warmth..
