Posted Jan. 22 2014:

Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Wood Buffalo RCMP has received two similar reports during the past week involving a suspicious vehicle. It was reported to RCMP on separate occasions that a male driving a black pick up truck approached a school aged child and offered each child a ride home.

In each instance the child declined the offer and advised a parent.

The male has been described as being in his 40’s or 50’s possibly having grey hair and a moustache. No additional information has been provided at this time.

The RCMP would like to remind parents and caregivers to speak to children about the importance of not speaking with strangers and never accepting a ride from anyone you do not know.

If you have information about this, or any other investigation(s), please call the Wood Buffalo RCMP at (780) 788-4000, or if you want to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS), by internet at www.tipsubmit.com,or by SMS (check your local Crime Stoppers [www.crimestoppers.ab.ca] for instructions on how to do). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers, and if you provide information to Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest(s), the recovery of stolen property, and/or a seizure of illicit drugs, you may be eligible for a cash reward.
