Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Please continue here and remember the rules. You can find them right here:

The Rules - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

    AND don't overlook these!!!!

    Victim Friendly

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civl and constructive way and ONLY IF IT IS RELEVANT TO THE CASE. Additionally, sleuthing family members that are not suspect is not allowed. Don't make random accusations or post personal information (even if it is public) like parking tickets, address, or first and last names of all their relatives and their neighbors. Also, never "bash" or attack them, or accuse them of involvement. However that does not mean that family members cannot come into discussion as the facts and issues of the case are discussed.

    Social Networks

Regarding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networking or blog websites: Links may be used to direct posters to view something on a social networking page. But postings on social networking sites are not considered fact; they are rumor. Copying and pasting, or taking screen caps, directly from these pages is not allowed. Paraphrasing is okay. (Exception: If the Twitter or Facebook post belongs to a verified news station, it may be copied. But a link should still be provided.)

Also, social networking pages may only be linked if they are directly related to a case, i.e. the victim or suspect. We don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman, or postal carrier just because they know the main player. We also NEVER link to minor's pages (unless they are the victim). And be sure that the page actually belongs to the person being discussed. Do not link to someone if you are not 100% sure it is the correct person. And if a social networking is set to private and you get in the back way, you may not post what you find. Private means private!

MINORS: Websleuths.com™ does not allow the naming of, or photographs of, minors (children under the age of 18) on the Site unless the child is a missing or deceased person or where law enforcement has identified the minor as a perpetrator of a crime and the minor will be tried as an adult. If a missing child is found and it is learned that such minor was the victim of child exploitation, references to the child’s name and likeness will be removed, and further posting of such information will not be allowed.

We do not have any POI's or suspects in this case, there should be no sleuthing of anyone except Leanne.

    Thanks,

    Cat

Again, Josh is not a suspect or POI so no sleuthing or intimating he is responsible unless or until MSM and LE state it as such.

No more bickering! If you do not like a post, alert it with the little red triangle in the upper right hand corner of the post and move on, do not respond.

    Hello

Just joined this site. Investigation sciences interest me and, for some reason, I'm really invested in this case. It could be since I'm a Texan and thus hits home for me. Finally decided to join in. I've read both threads so I hope I'm not repeating or missing anything. I have a few things that I've been stuck on the last few days:

Do we know where the tree trimmer info came from?

We have a quote from Will Bearden in one of the mysanantonio links in the first thread that said a tree trimmer saw her last. Did he talk to the tree trimmer? Did Josh? Was this person's account ever verified by LE? If it wasn't, for all we know, the tree trimmer potentially could not exist. This could also explain the lack of a scent trail. Maybe she never really left the house? JMO, but a lot rests on the tree-trimmer's account being correct. Is LE just taking someone's word for it?

Also, has it been verified by LE that Leanne's in-laws were in fact out of town? If so, for how long?

I still don't think this is abduction. From the maps, it looks like there's a police building right across from their neighborhood by 3009. Would be tricky for an abduction in broad daylight in this area. These are all just personal opinions and things I can't wrap my head around.

She left her in-laws home with about $60 and some credit cards, according to her husband. "She had her credit cards and I'm staying up all night hitting the refresh button just hoping that I'll have a credit card charge," he said.

Her friends back in Roswell have created a Facebook page, "Our Friend Leanne Hecht Bearden,"

Leanne Bearden's friends in Roswell said they have been asked by family members not to speak to the media.

A multi-agency search was conducted today for Leanne Hecht Bearden. This is the latest in the investigation into the disappearance of Leanne after she went for a walk on Jan. 17th from a relative’s home in Garden Ridge. The search basically covered a 23 square acre area that formed a cone surrounding where she was last seen. The search consisted of foot, canine, horseback, ATV and air elements from many agencies, local, state and federal including military. The search resulted in no signs of Ms. Bearden.

As in all investigations, those who last saw the missing person are considered persons of interest.

While we continue to follow all leads, an extensive investigation has led us to believe that Mrs. Bearden went for a walk and did not meet with foul play at the family home or in the immediate area.

Her husband, Josh, has been cooperative with all investigations and is not a person of interest.

    ETA: confusing?

Back to my question from the old thread. I have only seen MSM statements from Leanne's brother. Where are the MSM statements from her mother, father, and sister? If they are out there, as stated in thread 2, I would like to see them.

As someone ( sorry, forgot who) stated earlier, their whole marriage before now has revolved around this trip- planning, saving, and going.

I thought Leanne's parents made a statement on the family website, but I missed anything to the media. Does anyone have a link?

For those who think this is not an abduction and believe she was injured during her walk:

Where could she have gone that searchers would've missed? Doesn't seem like she wanted to go very far. Hard to imagine that a body would be missed in such a situation.

Also, has it been verified that dogs did lose her scent at teakwood and 3009?

Garrett Stethens, a friend of the family and their spokesman, told FoxNews.com that Leanne said to Josh that she would only be gone for an hour, but she never returned.

“There are no clues as to where she went,” Stethens said about her disappearance. “It was completely out of the blue. It was mysterious. It’s baffling.”

The family of a Colorado woman who went missing from a Garden Ridge home Jan. 17 has hired a private investigator to supplement police efforts to find her.

“He's going to start taking a closer look, and perhaps look into different areas,” Will Bearden, the missing woman's father-in-law, said Monday of investigator Charlie Parker.
