UK UK - Joseph Shann, 35, Leeds, 10 January 2010

Joseph Shann, 35 (then) went missing after leaving his sister's home in Ecclesbury Street, East End Park, Leeds, to buy christmas presents on Dec 10th, 2010. He had withdrawn £100 (about $164) from his bank account. He was meeting up with friends.

Joseph hasn't been seen since and his accounts have had no activity. His family are desperate to bring him home.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of murdering Joseph in August 2012 but were later released on bail. Joseph's case was highlighted today in a Leeds City centre shopping mall by the non profit Missing People organisation. Police also appealed again for any information.

Here is some information I have found. Unfortunately, there's no clothing description or further details about the circumstances of Joseph's disappearance. He has a tattoo 'JS' on his right shoulder. There's also some discrepancy with his missing date - the 8th or 10th? I've gone with the 10th.

I haven't been able to get much idea of where Joseph might be. But someone out there knows for certain.

It is time someone did the right thing. It is much harder to make a deal with prosecutors once a body has been found. Just saying.

Could,nt find much out but a few things.
Joseph had been staying with his sister until 10th? Why as he'd had his own multi storey flat? issues there?.Joseph had previously taken heroin, was he safer at his sisters.

Stated that parents saw lights on in his flat over Christmas, but didn't,t report
Joseph missing until after Christmas no date specified.
Did Joseph go back to his flat after the night out?. Police broke the door down to

Sister didn't,report him missing although he had been staying with her

Joseph was known to big issue sellers? had he been homeless at some time?

It sounds like police really need to find Joseph's body in order to bring a prosecution and have strong reason to believe he is deceased.

It does seem Joseph had an unstable lifestyle which led to him not being reported missing straight away. It made him vulnerable. I despise people who target the vulnerable.

Joseph is out there somewhere. I wonder where?

What is wrong with me? If Joseph went missing in 2010 at 35 that does not make him 37 now, but that's what I've put in the thread title.

This is really close to where Joseph was last seen:

A badly decomposed body has been found in parkland near a city centre.

The remains, discovered by a passer-by in the Cross Green area of Leeds, were so decayed police could not tell whether they were those of a man or woman.

Some quick notes I jotted down from the podcast - the section about Joseph is fairly short, around 15 minutes and the rest seems to be about the team at Leeds University and what they're doing and their methods etc.

In a good frame of mind according to family the last time he was seen

Wasn't reported missing until June/July after last being seen 10th December - was supposed to be watching his sisters kids the morning of 11th December

Had past issues with drugs and going missing - clean for a year before going missing - friends with a lot of homeless (probably due to his past addiction struggles)

Two friends who he went out for with drinks (night he went missing) were the ones arrested for his murder and then released - said they last saw him riding off on a borrowed motorbike/bike (not sure which)

Woman came forward a month before Joseph was reported missing and said she feared for his life - redacted her statement later on

When Police followed up on leads they found a "climate of fear" around getting involved/saying anything
