Oliver Luis Trizarri, 21, of Reading, and Stanley E. Kralik, 17, of Coaldale were charged Sunday with homicide, robbery, aggravated assault and theft in the death of Corey M. Samuels, 24, of Coaldale...

Police did not say how they linked the two suspects to the killing.

Trizarri and Kralik were arraigned early Monday morning and sent to Schuylkill County Prison without bail. Despite his age, Kralik was charged as an adult.

A judge in Schuylkill County found there’s enough evidence to send a homicide case to trial.

Oliver Trizarri and Stanley Kralik are accused of killing a man in Coaldale more than a year ago because they thought the victim attacked a woman.

On the way into their preliminary hearing, Trizarri told Newswatch 16 that he did it. “It wasn’t the thing I was supposed to do,” said Trizarri... Santley Kralik, 17, is charged with the same crime. When asked if he did it, Kralik said, “I didn’t do anything.”

Kyper testified that after the remains were found, they were collected, sent to Mercyhurst University and examined by a forensic anthropologist. The examination determined the bones showed signs of head trauma, piercing wounds, fractures and teeth were dislodged...

Trizarri admitted helping another person, Kralik, kill Samuels. Trizarri said the plan was to lure Samuels into the woods where he would strike him with a shovel and Kralik would hold him down, according to Kyper. However, the trooper said, Trizarri admitted he was not sure if he could strike Samuels and handed the shovel to Kralik, who struck the man.

In his statement, Trizarri told investigators he placed Samuels in a choke hold until he was unconscious. Once Samuels was unconscious, Kyper said, Trizarri reported he and Kralik took turns hitting him with the shovel and kicking him in the genitals before moving him to the wooded area and covering both the body and a trail of blood with snow. Kyper also testified that Trizarri said he had no remorse for the killing and that he did not feel sorry for what he did.

One of two men charged with killing a man in January 2014 in Coaldale plans to admit he did it, his lawyer said Wednesday. “My client has submitted guilty plea paperwork to plead guilty to third-degree murder and conspiracy,” Assistant Public Defender Michael A. O’Pake said of Oliver L. Trizarri, 22, of Reading. While not explicit about the sentence Trizarri will get under the plea agreement, O’Pake said it was “more than fair and reasonable.”

O’Pake spoke after a hearing in which Schuylkill County Judge John E. Domalakes severed Trizarri’s case from that of his co-defendant, Stanley E. Kralik, 18, of Coaldale, whom prosecutors still intend to try for the beating death of Corey M. Samuels. Domalakes, who severed the cases at the request of Kralik’s lawyer, Claude A.L. Shields, Pottsville, will hold another pre-trial conference in order to schedule Kralik’s trial.

Oliver L. Trizarri admitted Friday in Schuylkill County Court that he helped beat a man to death in January 2014 in Coaldale, and said he will testify against his alleged accomplice. Trizarri, 22, of Reading, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and conspiracy during a 10-minute hearing before Judge John E. Domalakes.Prosecutors withdrew the most serious charge against Trizarri, first-degree murder, along with charges of criminal homicide, robbery, aggravated assault and theft.

Domalakes accepted the plea but did not order preparation of a presentence investigation or immediately sentence Trizarri. Under the terms of the plea agreement between prosecutors and the defendant, Trizarri will serve 15 to 30 years in a state correctional institution and pay $4,295 restitution. However, the judge made it clear that Trizarri will have to help prosecutors in the case against his alleged accomplice, Stanley E. Kralik, 18, of Coaldale, in order to benefit from the agreement.

Stanley E. Kralik will go to trial in June for what prosecutors said was his role in the killing of a man in January 2014 in Coaldale. Judge John E. Domalakes has issued an order scheduling the start of Kralik’s trial for 9:30 a.m. June 20, with jury selection to be held June 16.

Prosecutors have charged Kralik, 18, of Coaldale, with criminal homicide, first-degree murder, third-degree murder, conspiracy, robbery, aggravated assault and theft. If convicted of first-degree murder, Kralik faces a life sentence.
