Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Please continue here and remember the rules. You can find them right here:

The Rules - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

    AND don't overlook these!!!!

    Victim Friendly

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civl and constructive way and ONLY IF IT IS RELEVANT TO THE CASE. Additionally, sleuthing family members that are not suspect is not allowed. Don't make random accusations or post personal information (even if it is public) like parking tickets, address, or first and last names of all their relatives and their neighbors. Also, never "bash" or attack them, or accuse them of involvement. However that does not mean that family members cannot come into discussion as the facts and issues of the case are discussed.

    Social Networks

Regarding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networking or blog websites: Links may be used to direct posters to view something on a social networking page. But postings on social networking sites are not considered fact; they are rumor. Copying and pasting, or taking screen caps, directly from these pages is not allowed. Paraphrasing is okay. (Exception: If the Twitter or Facebook post belongs to a verified news station, it may be copied. But a link should still be provided.)

Also, social networking pages may only be linked if they are directly related to a case, i.e. the victim or suspect. We don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman, or postal carrier just because they know the main player. We also NEVER link to minor's pages (unless they are the victim). And be sure that the page actually belongs to the person being discussed. Do not link to someone if you are not 100% sure it is the correct person. And if a social networking is set to private and you get in the back way, you may not post what you find. Private means private!

MINORS: Websleuths.com™ does not allow the naming of, or photographs of, minors (children under the age of 18) on the Site unless the child is a missing or deceased person or where law enforcement has identified the minor as a perpetrator of a crime and the minor will be tried as an adult. If a missing child is found and it is learned that such minor was the victim of child exploitation, references to the child’s name and likeness will be removed, and further posting of such information will not be allowed.

We do not have any POI's or suspects in this case, there should be no sleuthing of anyone except Leanne.

    Thanks,

    Cat

Again, Josh is not a suspect or POI so no sleuthing or intimating he is responsible unless or until MSM and LE state it as such.

No more bickering! If you do not like a post, alert it with the little red triangle in the upper right hand corner of the post and move on, do not respond.

The speculation about Leanne's husband stops now. This is not the first warning about this. You can discuss the leaving theory but until or unless there is something pointing to Josh being the reason we are not going there. .

The Mod Squad takes time in our new cases to educate our new members and to acclimate our veteran members to the case rules. Please know that the education process is over and now it's time to take more responsibility for what you are posting. Many posts have been removed due to rule infractions and we've given warnings, closed threads and sent PMs. That phase is over. From this point, I will be reviewing infractions on a one by one basis and if I see infractions, members may find themselves on the outside looking in. Please don't let that happen because it's better to have a constructive discussion with everyone in place.

This has been the most frequent problem in this case, accusing victims. But, you are responsible for knowing ALL the forum rules, of which 98% of them can be found at the link:

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way and ONLY IF IT IS RELEVANT TO THE CASE. PassPort

It's been years since I renewed my passport - anyone have an idea of how long it takes now? I went thru the post office the last time and it took a month to arrive. The time before that I needed it rushed and got it within 2 weeks via Fedex by going straight to the agency.

My thought is....they landed back in the US on December 23rd (I believe - I need to verify). They spent time with her family, then time with Josh's. The plan was to head back to Denver (last week).

I am wondering if she renewed or obtained a new passport between the end of December and January 17th. The challenge would be that even if she got it rushed out where would it be delivered and why not take the existing one. For someone who is on the run I would think the passport would be a critical door opener unless she knew she was staying in the US for a while.

You can renew or get a new one in person. It costs more, etc. but it's possible. I don't know if she lives near a place that would do it in person same-day. You can do it in Chicago, for example. JMO.
    JMO.

We received our children's first passports within a week of submitting the applications. We were astonished at how quickly they arrived.

The thought I keep having, is it's easier to find a missing person trying to cross a border. Wouldn't they flag her passport? I'm wondering if it wouldn't be easier for her to travel through the US, than with a flagged passport of a missing person. She was smart and seems like her other actions in life were thoroughly and carefully planned. Now, I am from Texas...I have crossed the Mexican border many times. They don't check much going in, but they do coming back.

Without money to leave the US, she has no real use for a passport even if she had it with her. She had her wallet, undoubtedly with driver's license and credit cards, which should be all the ID she would need in the US.

you dont need to show your passport to leave the country, just to re-enter.

IF LB truly intended to disappear....
In order to locate her, the PI will need to know WHY she left and what could have inspired her to leave the way she did. The trouble with that will be trying to determine who wrote what in regards to nearly everything...the blog, texts, Facebook, emails, etc. Even their LinkedIn job descriptions for the time they were traveling is identical (except they appear to disagree on whether January should be included). So, what does he really have to work with? I can only hope that he will be doing lots of interviews with her close family and friends.

True, but you need it to get into any foreign country once you leave here.
