Edward Machin of York, went missing January 23rd. It's known he purchased a return train ticket to Bempton but left the train in Scarborough and took a taxi the rest of the way to Bempton.

It's worth noting it is sometimes cheaper to buy return train tickets, rather than singles.

Edward's brother Ben has begged for the public's help, saying: 'Edward is a genuine, kind and gentle person and is very considerate of other people...this is so out of character.'

Edward is about 5'4", white, with blue grey eyes and dark hair. He has a slim build.

He was last seen wearing a dark jacket, light shirt, jeans and brown shoes.

Edward's brother says he has been 'inundated' with enquiries about Edward. He is missed very, very much.

If my map is correct, Edward travelled to the coast. I hope he went there to have a little think and came back again. I hope he didn't go into the sea.

It's quite remarkable he hasn't been found yet, also coincidence that it's the same date as Megan's disappearance.
 
Family applies for missing man, Edward Leigh Machin, to be presumed dead

THE family of a man who has been missing for almost a year have applied to have him presumed dead.

This week, a public notice was posted in local newspapers which applied to the High Court of Justice for a declaration of the presumed death of Mr Machin, and urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to intervene as soon as possible.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Despite extensive efforts from the police to locate Edward Machin he remains missing.

The family of a York man who has been missing for more than a year have succeeded in a legal application to have him presumed dead, Peter Lawrence has revealed.

I hope this mans body is found.

This is sad, though it seems on face value that Ed may have intended to kill himself. Last seen at Bempton (cliffs) is ominous. I can't see his FB page now but at the time there were messages from concerned family and friends - he was a popular man.

I assume Peter Lawrence is Claudia's dad?
