Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

I know it wasn't the smart thing to do, but if someone has been robbed or pushed around in the past by a creep like this sometimes something just snaps and they say "Hell No, I am not letting this happen again!"

    Just my worth.

I know I know, the rational side of me is screaming "How could you do that to your kids!!!" But the part of me that knows what it is like to be pushed around and then suddenly snap realizes that when that happens it's like nothing else exists there is just such a sense of being sooooo fed up. I cannot describe it, you have to have lived it. It does not excuse what she did, don't misunderstand me, I just see how it could happen. She should still be dope slapped.

I don't know. We have all been taught, don't fight back. Call the police. It is safer not to fight back.
As a result criminals are now counting on that. More and more is happening in broad daylight, in front of witnesses. More and more even the victims who cooperate and don't fight back are ending up being killed (it leaves fewer witnesses). And the killings are getting more violent.
Yes, she had her kids with her and thus she endangered them too. But it sounds like she endangered them just by taking them with her to the store.
But what happens if more victims fight back. If criminals could no longer count on a victims cooperation?

That has often been my thought. I often tell my husband that someone would probably kill me if I were in a hostage or mugging situation. If they caught me on a bad day. Geez!!! They better run fast enough that I can't catch them or incapacitate me. I just don't like being ordered around, pushed around or picked on. A few folks have learned that the hard way.

Sure! I often carry a handgun, my kids know it's there. They know I'd not allow anyone to endanger them.

    Who are we kidding, exactly???
