Cops: Mother and son missing from Little Village -

A teenage mother and her 2-year-old son have been missing for nearly a week from the South Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side. Cynthia Hernandez, 16, and her son Nathan Pena, were last seen in the 2800 block of South Homan Avenue about 7 p.m. on Feb. 9, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

Just some location context. Last seen in 2800 block of S Homan Ave in Chitown. Red pin is approx location.

I really wish they would stop posting news like this on FB. It just allows for people to insult others and rumors to start. We have contacted our local news and asked them to stop. They don't care. Many of our missing teens her age our runaways. Hoping she is as well.

My Mom was born and raised in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood not too far from there. So much has changed in those neighborhoods changed even since my grandma last lived in her home there in the late 90's early 00's.

And I agree in hoping she is a runaway trying to do something for her and her son that she must have felt she couldn't do at home. One thing I will note though, and I don't know if this is an error or fact, but the articles all say her little boy is 2 and 50lbs. He doesn't looks 50lbs in the picture. I'd like to know if that is accurate information.
