    Australia - Robert, 66, & Cheryl Adamson, 60, murdered, Murrumbeena, Vic, 19 Feb 2014

Thanks Isis for the heads up on this one!

    http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/...-death-in-home

A major manhunt is underway in Melbourne after a husband and wife were found stabbed to death in their home.

The bodies of Robert and Cheryl Adamson were found yesterday afternoon at the Murrumbeena property they had lived in for 40 years.

Neighbours of the pair have described them as a "lovely couple".

Colleagues of Mrs Adamson, 60, who worked in a library, found the pair after visiting their home when they failed to show up for work.

Police have not yet ruled out a burglary gone wrong, but there are no obvious signs of forced entry or that the couple had assaulted each other.

Family, friends and investigators remain stumped by the circumstances.

Detectives say there's no sign of forced entry and have all but ruled out a murder-suicide.

Colleagues of Mrs Adamson, 60, who worked in a school library, found the pair dead in their home about 1pm, after going to check on her when she failed to show up at work.

Police did not rule out a burglary gone wrong, but there were no obvious signs of forced entry.

The couple’s adult son, Michael, lives at the property with his parents, but police said he was not home overnight Wednesday, when the attack is believed to have happened.

“He’s assisting us with our inquiries,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen McIntyre said. “At this point he is not a suspect.”

Detectives were called to the house just after 12.30pm and began searching the area for a weapon they suspect may have been used to kill the couple on Tuesday night.

"It is quite a brutal scene," Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen McIntyre, of the homicide squad, said.

He said police were awaiting the outcome of an autopsy, and were not ruling anything out.

Yet another senseless murder... I just can't get my head around all these murders, to sound 40 yrs older 'what is the world coming to'? Really what is happening to society?

I will not share my initial thoughts on this case because...I can't really so I did a little research on the couple. Robert was an accountant http://www.hotfrog.com.au/Companies/...amson#Overview and Cheryl was a beloved librarian at what appears to be a very nice school. Sad photos show people taking their cats out of the house. Sometimes we forget that these senseless murders don't just hurt people but pets, too.

POLICE have towed away a car and seized firearms and computer hard drives from the murder scene as they continue to hunt for clues in the shocking double slaying of a devoted couple.

Crime scene forensic experts returned to the Murrumbeena home in Melbourne’s southeast at first light this morning after spending hours searching for finger prints and any other evidence in the house and surrounding neighbourhood last night.

A white four-wheel-drive was towed away from the street for further forensic testing just before noon.

And Homicide Squad detectives emerged from the house with several guns, found in the home, just after 2pm.

This afternoon, police said the firearms were registered to the late Mr Adamson and were not linked to the homicide investigation.

A strange case with what seem to be some strange contradictions... A 'lovely couple' and then it's widely stated in the media that up to TEN! ! firearms were located and removed from the premises (apparently not related to this particular crime though). And then the repeated emphasis of the son assisting police but not being treated as a suspect. So wonder why his car is being towed away, though, for forensic analysis? .....
