One of the people she killed was her brother, the tribal chairman:

"Though police have said they are still working on a motive, a nephew who lived with her, Jacob Penn, said she snapped under the pressure of her brother trying to evict her. The brother, Rurik Davis, who lived down the street on the Rancheria, had apparently taken over as tribal chairman and was among the dead."

Motion filed for retrial in Modoc tribal murder trial

    http://www.krcrtv.com/news/local/mod...rial/409356418

Cherie Lash-Rhoades attorney, Antonio Alvarez, has filed for a retrial after the Modoc County Sheriff's Office was notified that a witness in the trial may have given false testimony.

In a press release, the Modoc County Sheriff's Office said they are legally obligated to disclose information that is potentially exculpatory which is both favorable and material to the prosecution or defense of a criminal defendant.

Due to this obligation, the Sheriff's Office investigated the notification and turned the finding over to the Placer County District Attorney's Office investigator and to Alvarez.

The possible false testimony had been given by former Alturas Police Chief, Ken Barnes.
