Missing man, Mount Isa

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a young man missing from Soldiers Hill, since early yesterday morning.

Kyle Coleman, 17, was last seen at a Skewes Street home around 6am on Saturday morning. It is believed that he left on foot with the intention of walking to his home about three kilometres away in Parkside, but he never arrived. Kyle may have been carrying a green sleeping swag and backpack

His family and friends have not been able to contact him since and are very concerned for his welfare as this is out of character for him.

Kyle was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with a white motif, white flat cap (‘Obey’ brand), red pair of board shorts and skate shoes.

He is described as being Caucasian with sandy coloured short hair, brown eyes, slim build and approximately 173cm tall.

Anyone who may have seen this man or knows of Kyle’s whereabouts is urged to contact your local police station or Crime Stoppers.

Inspector Trevor Kidd says they have scoured the Leichhardt River bed area.

"We have had enormous support from the community - Kyle's friends, family, workmates, just people from all over the community have come forward to assist," he said.

"They are working with police officers and search and rescue people to check all the areas where Kyle may have visited.

"We have done extensive checks of the riverbed because it is a geographical feature near where he was last seen, so we are looking at all options."

Search efforts were focused on the Leichhardt River bed between the Alma Street Crossing and 23rd Avenue yesterday after an RACQ NQ Rescue Helicopter Service patrol of the river bed proved unsuccessful the night before.

Mount Isa Mines divers were brought in to search deeper sections of the river while a number of community members volunteered their time to search the banks and surrounding streets with Mount Isa Police and SES volunteers.

The Junction was also searched on foot and with vehicles to cover any areas Kyle might have visited from the time he went missing.

I pray he is found safe and well. It sounds like an accident happened, where are you Kyle?

The search for missing a 17-year-old from Mount Isa has entered its fourth day, with crews scouring local waterways and bushland to locate Kyle Coleman.

Police say Kyle’s disappearance was “out of character” and they are very concerned for his welfare.

Kyle’s mother Sonia Coleman thanked well-wishers and said their support meant “far more than anyone could comprehend”.

“Even though we are unable to comment publicly right now please know we are feeling very grateful to everyone assisting in bringing our wonderful, loving, considerate, respectful and amazing son home to us,” she wrote on Facebook.

Police in north-west Queensland are searching for a 17-year-old boy missing in Mount Isa.

Kyle Coleman was last seen early on Saturday morning leaving a home in Soldiers Hill.

Authorities believe he was planning to walk home, just three kilometres away.

He said the teenager was last seen around the area of Skewes Street in Mount Isa, not far from the Leichhardt River.

"Anyone living around those houses along the riverbed - up through towards the Isa Street Bridge and up past the Island Bowls Club - if anyone is in properties along those areas and saw anyone that fits his description, certainly give us a call," he said.

"It will be the little bits of information that will help us here in locating this person."

Wow! That is quite the coincidence.... On SM his family seem loving and desperately worried.

I think it's incredibly weird that they found his friend dead. I suspect tht the friend knew something :(

Wow so sad. I guess he took his secrets to the grave with him on this one .. I hope they can recover Kyle and give his parents the answers they need.
