FL - Carline Brumaire Jean, 39, Orlando, 9 Feb 2014

We have a missing woman in Orlando, FL. Last seen leaving work on Feb 9, 2014. Not many details out yet. Seems the story just broke on MSM in the last day or so. Hasn't been much publicity until now (unfortunate, imo)

"A 6-year-old boy is waiting patiently for his mom to come home after she disappeared on Feb. 9, according to her family.

Carline Brumaire Jean clocked out of work at the Royal Pacific Hotel near Universal Orlando at 4:21 p.m., but never made it back home."

"It's an 8-mile drive from the hotel to Jean's home near Hiawassee Road and Sagewood Drive. Her family told Local 6 Jean is a new driver. The night she vanished was her third time driving alone since she moved to Central Florida from Haiti last year."

    2 weeks already !!

Enel Brumaire said his wife would never leave her 7-year-old son on purpose, but he hasn't seen or heard from her in more than two weeks.

"Sixteen days is kind of like 16 years for me," he said. "I don't know what to do. That's why I called for help. I don't know what to do anymore. I expect her to come back home safely. I can't wait anymore."

The Orange County Sheriff's Office told News 13 the missing person case is still under investigation. Deputies would not say if they thought Jean was in danger, but Enel Brumaire said English is his wife's second language, and the day she was last seen was only her third time driving to work by herself.

Is the husbands quote strange, or out of context?
Did he wait 15 days to call and file a missing person report?

It seems odd that this was not publicized earlier. Why didn't the sheriff's office send a press release to media before now? It sounds like the husband is the one who finally sought publicity for his missing wife.

I wonder if she picked up a paycheck on Sunday. Also, I wonder why she had driven only three times. How did she get to work before that?

"The first two weeks, I drive like crazy seeing if I can find her car anywhere," said Enel Brumaire Jean. "She's my truly love."

It is sad that apparently the husband did not go to the authorities sooner than he did. TWO WEEKS before reporting her missing ? Was it a cultural issue or an immigration issue that kept him from going to the police ?

A news reporter stated that "police do not suspect foul play" but I disagree. I wish police would not publicly rule out foul play so ealry in an investigation? Is that suppose to make the public feel safer? You cannot lose a woman and a Toyota Camry for that period of time without something wrong happening. Camry cars have a certain "street cred" that a gang banger would steal it for.

    Scenario:
    1) She drove into a lake. Terribly unlikely IMO.
    2) She left her family and is on the run. Even more unlikely. She is recently immigrated and barely speaks English.
    3) Gangbangers stole her car and disposed of her. Took the car out of state. I pray I am wrong...

are they any bodies of water along the way??
as a new driver an accident is quite possible.

    snipped and bbm

I have a close friend who lived in Haiti for many years. She says the idea of going to the police for help in Haiti is laughable. They are understaffed, undertrained, underfunded and run by people with little or no LE experience. Police corruption and brutality were constant problems when she lived there. It may have changed since then, but someone who grew up there might indeed be very wary of police anywhere.

ETA: which is not to say that waiting 16 days is anything other than a bad decision. :-(
