David Allen Dunaway's case is a bit odd in that according to his Doe Network profile, he was paranoid on drugs and carrying a shotgun in a brown paper bag when he vanished from Houston, Texas.

There is a huge gap in timeline of 17 years between his disappearance and the UID being located near a transient camp in Jacksonville, Florida. Age-wise, he would have been 46/47 which is a year or two higher than the UID's estimated age range. I want to include him here, though, because he:

  • Did have a plate in his jaw like the UID
  • Had a broken nose whereas the UID has healed nasal fractures
  • May have healed broken ribs whereas the UID appears to have a healing broken rib
  • Bad teeth whereas the UID seems to have quite a few dental issues going on
  • Was estimated to be 6' tall. The estimated height range for the UID is pretty wide from 5' to 6'.
Also, as a drywaller, would he be prone to the types of hand injuries described on the UID? I'm not familiar enough with the trade to know.

David was my uncle and I gave all of the info that you see. I have reason to believe he was murdered in 1981. I doubt that he ended up in Florida.

I believe you that it's not him, but I want to point out that the decedent's height is listed as a range from 5'6" to 6'1", so it's not much of a guideline for any future matches.

We don't seem to have a thread for Dunaway. Would you like us to start one?

The decedent has two ruleouts:

Clyde Ellis, Jr. 1956 Mississippi
William Moldt 1957 Florida

The decedent's updated Doenet page, with a sketch: 3031UMFL

David Dunaway's Namus page is returning a permission error. Do you know why that might be?

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Arthur Deering from New York has been added to the ruleouts.

David Dunaway's Namus page is back (The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)). It lists one comparison to a UID in Virginia.

Wow. The dental work is so extensive you’d think a dentist would have heard it on the news at the time and been curious. He could have been from the southeast GA area too.
