    For you and AndiLA - I wanted to pass along "Abandoned America" - a project by an artist who documents abandoned locations in the US. He turns it into a gallery for the public and recently held one in Philly. My co-worker is a graphic artist and photographer and participates /submits photos to the site. If you look up "Abandoned America" on Facebook - you will see the project started recently.

    I think your photos would make a wonderful addition to that gallery. Sorry for going off topic but I thought of you both after viewing the photos just now.

    ETA - actually I just re-read the bio - and the project was not started recently - it was started in 2006 as a catalog of modern ruins across the US. I just heard about it recently via my friends FB.

    I photograph abandoned places as well. Maybe we should start a "Websleuthers who shoot creepy places" club.
    Unless I've provided a link, most of what I say is my own opinion. Sometimes, I'm thinking out loud and may explore avenues I don't necessarily think are true, but I'm always aware I could be wrong, so I check other stuff out.

    OK, I have to jump in here on the photos of abandoned places. Do you guys remember the TV evangelists, Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, of the PTL? They had a huge amusement park/complex that got abandoned when he went to jail for fraud. Anyways, I stumbled across the photos awhile ago and thought I would share the links:

    Approximately One Month After the Accident

    These are high rez...I added links rather than inserting them as to avoid stretching the post. Click on the image in your browser to see full size.

    The last 20 feet or so drop ~10 feet to the water's edge. There are many tracks from mowing equipment. The sign knocked over was most likely hit by that same equipment.

    There are no obvious signs that a vehicle traversed through the detritus to the water just over a month ago.

    These images are of the right side of the bridge where it is believed the vehicle entered the water. The news photos show that the vehicle was pulled from the left side. It may have drifted partially or completely under the bridge as it was sinking.

    In this photo, do you think these six memorials on the fence were all for Hayley or have there been others that have met the same fate?

    I assume that they are all for Hayley. They all show similar signs of deterioration. There have been no reports of other incidents at that location on the local news -- one could expect that they would be reported.

    One would think but I asked without investigating any similar events, lol. Thanks for the photos, Mikeroo. They really show what a straight shot it was from the highway to the water.
