The Lewis County sheriff’s office says the skeletal remains found in February in a wooded area of Centralia are those of an 18-year-old Spanaway man who was reported missing by his family two years earlier.

The sheriff’s office says DNA testing linked the remains to the family of Christopher D. Virdell.

Happy to know it's not Kayla, Lindsey, or Nancy. Sad to know it's official that Chris was murdered although it was probable since there was murder charges in his disappearance. He sounded like a great young man from what I've read. RIP Chris

I didn't see this link on here (forgive me if it was and I missed it).

It doesn't look like it's been updated since sometime in 2013, so it doesn't have anything about the identification. But it has a decent amount of info about Chris, along with pictures of him. It also has some video of benefits/fundraisers for his search.

There were murder charges? I somehow missed that. I thought the whole thing was a mystery.
My posts are and believe it or not I've put some thought into 'em.

SheWhoMustNotBeNamed and sherbetjello posted a story about him (Michael Bourquin) on his missing thread in 2/2014. He was a suspect in Chris' disappearance that got himself shot by the cops during a traffic stop.

The family wants to find the person who found Chris' remains so they could thank her.

(Warning: postmortem photo of skull) https://identifyus.org/en/cases/12351
Also, the UID NamUs profile lists "Slight Funnel Chest" as a deformity. There's a picture on Chris' Facebook profile (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater) that shows him topless, and the deformity is visible. If it were mentioned in the MP details maybe an ID would have been made faster. Investigators could have also made a sketch or reconstruction with the skull. Chris was 18, 2 years below the estimated 20-30 age range, but that's not a big difference.
