Malaysia airlines plane may have crashed 239 people on board #4

    Breaking news

Malaysia Airlines says it has lost contact with a plane travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, with 239 people on board.

The airline said in a statement that flight MH370 disappeared at 02:40 local time on Saturday (18:40 GMT on Friday).

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-26492748

I'm praying the plane is found and people on the plane survive.

    Continue discussion here:

There were a lot of off topic posts on the last thread. Please be mindful that many come here after a day of work to read the latest and then have to wade through the extraneous posts. Also be respectful of the families of the 239 on board. Stay on topic and maintain a civil discussion... Remember to post articles and tweets from msm with a link...

Wonder how shallow the water is where the potential debris field is located?

CNN (live broadcast) reports it's quite shallow, very shallow, less deep than the plane is long.

Also, they captured these images on Sunday. They should be able to capture images now, at wherever the debris may have have moved to if it floated further, i.e., current images.

Thanks for posting this. Its should also be noted that joking around on this thread is really disrespectful. 239 Families have lost members of their family's, 239 family's are trying to get answers, there lives are changed forever. Joking should be done else where. Even if it is making fun of the Malaysian government, these families want answers and do not find what the government is doing funny at all.

Must mean they don't think there is any credibility in the report.

I don't have a picture of the co ordinates but we have learned the Gulf of Thailand is considered shallow between 45 meters (147 FT) and 80 meters (262 FT) at its max depth.

    http://www.straitstimes.com/the-big-...Airlines-MH370

The South China Sea covers about 3.68 million sq km, more than 5,000 times the size of Singapore.

Its south-western part, including where the Gulf of Thailand lies, is a submerged plain where the water is generally shallow, less than 60m deep.

But the largest marginal sea of the western Pacific has a mean depth of 1,060m and a maximum depth of 5,016m.
Its deepest section is called the China Sea Basin.

    UPDATE
I was reading https://twitter.com/BobWoodruff tweets and I looked at the map he put up..looks like the co ordinates are just south east of Ho Chi Minh City
Not sure if that area is still considered Gulf of Thailand of the south western part of the South China Sea..so not sure about the depth of the water.

    Based on China's satellite images?

Many experts think the image is too large for the plane & some wonder why the image is so blurry @ABC pic.twitter.com/TrvZzNBhsw
