    Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 and Its Changing Timeline

    Nearly a week after Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 disappeared, officials are still at a loss for what happened to the jetliner carrying 239 people. New details suggest that the flight was in the air far longer than previously thought and deliberate action was taken to divert the plane off course.

    Malaysia Backtracks on When Airliner’s Communications Were Disabled Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, the chief executive of Malaysia Airlines, clarified at a news conference early Monday evening that the communications system, known as an Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System, had worked normally at 1:07 but then failed to send its next regularly scheduled update at 1:37 a.m.

    This is a timeline of events based on the information given at a media briefing earlier today.

    00:41am: Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 takes off from Kuala Lumpur

    01:07am: Final signal from its ACARS system was sent

    01:19am: Co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid said: "All right, good night" to air traffic control

    01:21am: Transponder is turned off

    01:30am: Malaysian civil aviation control loses contact with the plane

    01:37am: ACARS appears to be turned off

    02:15am: Plane is spotted near the Andaman Islands on a military radar

    08:11am: Final satellite communication broadens search to two massive arcs stretching for thousands of miles into the Indian Ocean and across vast parts of Asia


    Plane may have flown up to another hour after its last satellite transmission.

    Following is the timeline as the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 enters Day 11.

    12.30am: Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan say there had been no sightings of MH370 In their air space.

    5.30am: The Pentagon says the USS KIDD will be withdrawn from SAR operations as the search area is extensive and will be more efficient to look for MH 370 using surveillance aircraft.

    8am: Singapore Armed Forces has offered Malaysia the help of its Information Fusion Centre (IFC) which has a network of 13 military navies and 51 civilian shipping companies worldwide to locate MH370.

    9.30am: Three million people have joined in one of the largest crowd sourcing effort led by satellite operator DigitalGlobe to search the 24,000km MH 370 SAR area as more images are being added daily, including areas in the Indian Ocean.

    10.30am: Malaysians in New York gathered for a special 'Hajat Prayers' to pray for the safety of MH 370 passengers and crew.

    11am: There is no evidence Chinese passengers were involved in a hijack or terror attack on MH 370 says China.

    12pm: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin hit out at those who attempted to discredit the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government over the missing MH 370.

    1pm: United Arab Emirates armed forces will join international efforts in searching for MH 370.

    1.30pm: Australia's maritime safety agency said it had reduced its search for MH 370 to a 600,000 sq km corridor in the southern Indian Ocean which is still roughly the size of Spain and Portugal combined.

    1.45pm: The turn that diverted MH 370 off its flight path was programmed into the aircraft’s computer navigation system, probably by someone in the cockpit, the New York Times reported.

    5.15pm: Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein says the SAR for MH 370 has taken a new international dimension.
    - Hishammuddin says they are focused in gathering information from satellite, increasing air and technical assistance in the SAR effort.
    - Hishammuddin says Malaysia has asked its foreign partners to relook their satellite data.
    - Hishammuddin says 2.4 million square nautical miles will be covered under the SAR operation with more assets and assistance from foreign nations.
    - Hishammuddin says the priority has always been to locate MH 370 and is bigger than politics.
    - Hishammuddin dismisses claims that Malaysia is a hotbed of terrorism.
    - Hishammuddin says experts confirm that the northern and southern corridors might have been flown by MH 370 by using satellite data.
    - Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman says his ministry has sent out 12 diplomatic notes in the two search corridors and the response has been excellent.
    - Anifah says the search for MH370 is a complex issue covering many countries but its good relations gives it a good advantage in the SAR operations.
    - Department of Civil Aviation Director General Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman stresses the importance of finding of MH370 to get answers of its disappearance.
    - MAS CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya reiterates that the national carrier has given all the necessary assistance to the next of kin of passengers and assures that it will look into their threats to carry out a hunger strike.
    - Ahmad Jauhari says the reporting system on board MH 370 was disabled.
