Terry Elvis told police that at about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, he was exiting his business on Howard Avenue at the Market Common when he saw a matted black 2-door Jeep Wrangler in the parking lot behind the complex, according to a report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department. The vehicle had a black rag top with a tubular bumper, blacked-out rims, and was raised up higher than standard height.

Horry County police says harassment reports sidetrack from Heather Elvis search

As the search for missing person Heather Elvis nears the two-month mark, Horry County police chief Saundra Rhodes is asking the public for cooler heads to prevail.

Since Elvis, 20, disappeared from her Myrtle Beach area apartment in the early morning hours of Dec. 18, Rhodes said county police have fielded hundreds of tips, many of which have been helpful.

But police have also had to respond to a rash of harassment complaints that she says "sidetracks" investigators from the primary goal, which is finding Heather Elvis.

“That has been frustrating," Rhodes said of the harassment complaints. "It does not hinder our investigation, but it sidetracks it.”

The father of missing woman Heather Elvis has filed a second complaint with Myrtle Beach Police to investigate possible harassment.

On March 13, Terry Elvis reported that his friends saw a video on Facebook that showed someone in a car driving behind and filming his business. When he went outside to get perspective on where that video was likely shot from, he found a red "X" painted on the back door and could smell fresh paint.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – WMBF News anchor Michael Maely has been charged with trespassing after attempting to get a comment from the parents of Tammy Moorer, the woman charged with kidnapping and murdering 20-year-old Heather Elvis.

According to a court summons from the State of South Carolina, on February 27, Maely entered the land of Tammy's father William Caison, located on the 8700 block of Highway 814 in Myrtle Beach. The Horry County Police report states there are about 100 "no trespassing" signs around Caison's property.

There have been several charges of interference, harassment and/or trespassing filed with the Horry County Sheriff's Department in relation to the search for Heather. Most of these side issues are a distraction, taking the focus off of finding Heather.

Let's put them all in one place and track them here.

"MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -
Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with interfering with the case involving the disappearance of Heather Elvis, Horry County Police said Tuesday afternoon.

William Christopher Barrett, age 52, and Garrett Ryan Starnes, age 25, both of Myrtle Beach, are facing charges of obstructing justice."

Does anyone know specifically what Starnes did? I have heard what Barrett did. What is the status of these cases?

Is there any proof these 2 knew the M's previously?

Any word on ID for the remains found in December...the man and the cross?

I do not know what specifically Starnes did. It seems after Starnes was charged, there was a distance between him and the E family but not BB.
I read somewhere that BB said his charges won't be heard until after the murder trial-can't remember where I read that **so it could be rumor**. I find that interesting. I won't go into the reasons why, in case this is just rumor but both ways I think of it, it helps the defense.
