Malaysia airlines plane may have crashed 239 people on board #15

    Breaking news

Malaysia Airlines says it has lost contact with a plane travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, with 239 people on board.

The airline said in a statement that flight MH370 disappeared at 02:40 local time on Saturday (18:40 GMT on Friday).

I'm praying the plane is found and people on the plane survive.

The moderators have been wading in a pool of alerts this morning - and most are coming from this forum. I wanted to review some of the issues that happened yesterday because if the issues continue, some of our members are going to find themselves on the outside looking in.

    - Discuss the topic and not each other. If you have a problem with a fellow poster, alert via the little red triangle in the upper corner of the post and the mods will review privately

    - Limit the one liners. A little humor while waiting is okay, but when it goes on and on then it falls into being "off topic" which is a forum violation. And make sure you're not poking fun at this tragedy. Not funny.

    - The political comments need to go in the Political Pavilion. Also, while it's a good thing to be proud of your own country, it's not good to make fun of other countries. Websleuths is an international community and we think each person is just as important as the next. We are proud to have all of you as members.

If you have any questions, don't be afraid to privately contact the moderator of your choice. First you might want to review our Rules forum. Your answer can probably be found there --->The Rules - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

Please read the following news article for important details.

In a display of bad taste, fake news profiles have popped up across social media channels claiming to have found missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Worse, the posts include what is known as “clickjacking” scams, which redirect users to promotional websites and compromise the security of your account. Whatever you do, DO NOT CLICK on those links. Both Facebook and Twitter have been targeted.

Sky news discussion has just said there is a "private jet" out there searching, it can stay out longer than the other search planes but has no imaging capabilities, just people looking out of the windows. I wonder who sent that??

I also wonder who is co-ordinating the ATC over the area, quite worrying there are so many planes flying about, can't be easy ensuring there are no near misses.

As we hear news today of another sighting of stuff on the water I sure hope they were able to throw out marker bouyey at the spot. A marker bouey could float along with the debris and help ensure searchers can locate whatever it is they spotted.

If all they have is just the GPS coordinates it may end up like the wooden pallet and just disappear again unfortunately. The ocean is just too vast and too difficult to find single objects. Any plane that is doing searching needs to be forced to carry marker boueyes and if they dont have that capability to throw one out, then IMO they should not be allowed to be out there and get another plane that can.

This is where the manifest comes into play. By this time they should have a list of all goods carried and their package description. How hard is that?

And if the manifest is with the police, don't they have fax machines? Just ring up and say "fax me a copy". If it is top secret get a dilomatic courier to bring a copy. What if the police "accidently" destroy it how are they going to put in insurance claims?

The people at the other end should have a copy. How do they accept goods without knowing what they are supposed to have. All very suss to e

Wow. Can you imagine the poor passengers aboard that flight. With the ermergency power on they would have known something was wrong and they probably wondered if something more was going on. How stressful that must have been.

I do worry about the aging airplanes that many airlines have. I flew a certain airline that I wont mention about a year ago. I was shocked at how old the plane looked and everything seemed outdated and run down. I wont be flying that airline again as I heard they have an aging fleet of many airplanes.

Sky saying the captain of the Oz flight which spotted the objects has confirmed 4 objects have been seen, flares dropped so the ship can get to exact area:

    1 rectangular
    1 circular
    1 long cylinder approx 2m
    1 other cylindrical object

China also reporting 2 large bits of debris along with a host of smaller objects. They have an icrebreaker vessel on the way.

These are "real time" sightings from today. This really could be it folks.
