Oscar Pistorius: South Africa gears up for its 'trial of the century'

(CNN) -- He was one of South Africa's favorite sons, an amputee track star who defied all the odds and sprinted into the hearts of millions during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She was a staggering beauty with the brains to match, a law graduate and model whose star was on the rise.

Updated Trial Schedule

"The court in Guateng province said that the trial would continue until 4 April, then adjourn for one week before resuming until 16 May.

"All parties involved" had agreed to the dates, the court said."

Admin/Mod Note

Thank you all for participating! This forum has a special dynamic - good sleuthers, intelligent discussions, though provoking opinions expressed ... it makes it enjoyable to read & moderate. We sincerely thank you for that!

The last few days I've been disappointed to see a few exchanges begin to deteriorate  - escalating from a lack of tolerance for differing opinions. Of course opinions are going to differ when a bunch of intelligent, independent thinkers have a discussion. That's a good thing, not a bad thing. I understand the passion but the purpose should not be to change anyone else's mind. Respect your fellow posters and make a conscious effort to be tolerant. Please note that passive-aggressive, snarky, personalized posts will not be tolerated and, beginning immediately, will result in a loss of posting privileges.

Thanks all. :heartbeat:

IF Nel is a man of his word then today’s early tea break could be the last before he announces that the State rests?

"Early this week" should mean he has finished by Tuesday (Today) in my mind. Wednesday is NOT "early in the week" It is "mid-week"

Sky news reported the state are calling their last witness today.

I find that hard to believe unless he has something really really big to present today like a motive

Not much of a case then?

The only thing proved beyond reasonable doubt is that Annette Stipps lied about holding back the curtain.... and the Defense did that :floorlaugh:

I agree :(

I'm curious about the forgotten password and would like to know just how similar the forgotten password was to ones for his other devices? Generally people are lazy when it comes to passwords and tend to use virtually identical ones for other things so if the forgotten one was similar then it would mean that he didn't want the history from the iphone disclosed.

Thanks in advance to those keeping us up to date with the testimony. Much appreciated.

There's a famous SA footballer in court, who had a run-in with OP? But he's gone into the public gallery so state can't be calling him.

Court's in.

The Apple iphone 5. He got it Feb 15th, downloaded info the same day.

The user name for the phone was Oscar Pistorius.

Another phone he got was received Feb 26th. ( The third handset.)

Now into software talk about downloading methods. All reports given to defence.

Nel: Let's talk about movement and communication on the phones.

I don't know the lexact egal position on this but just because mrs Stipp's made a mistake under cross examination about one thing I don't think that means we can ignore her testimony She will have had many photographs taken at different times and I personally think under heavy cross examination it would be easy to make one mistake . Mr stipp's stated that he heard OP shouting from the balcony at which point the lights had been on for a considerable time but OP's statement said he hadn't turned it on until after that time because he was still scared . Mr Stipp's was a very brave person to go anywhere near that house unarmed when he had heard gun shots which to me speaks volumes about his character JMOO

FM explains msgs indicate time/duration and GPRS and the tower used (where it pinged).

GPRS is a person's internet connection on their device.
