DETECTIVES were last night trying to identify a woman *believed murdered in a Brisbane park, her body found near the inner-city William Jolly Bridge.

Police spent hours searching for a weapon after a man found the woman in a rotunda in Kurilpa Park in South Brisbane about 6am yesterday, 30m from the bridge.

They said she was a victim of a serious assault

She is described as aged in her teens to early 20s, with a slim build, about 165cm in height, with an olive complexion and dark hair. The woman was wearing a silver bracelet on her right wrist.

It was not known if the woman was sexually assaulted, and detectives were appealing for people who saw anything in the area from the previous night to contact police

A bit more info on this mysterious case:

Images of jewellery worn by a murdered woman whose body was found in a busy Brisbane park have been released by police as they try to establish her identify.........

On Saturday, they released photos of a gold ring with three diamonds, a silver skull ring, another silver ring with a pattern of opposing L shaped sections cut from the metal, and a silver chain bracelet.

I'll leave it to enzeder to post the pics (if she so wishes!!):floorlaugh:

Confirmation that this is a murder investigation:

"A post-mortem has been carried out this morning which has revealed that the deceased female from Kurilpa Park was assaulted and has suffered significant injuries," he said.

"And as such we are treating yesterday's discovery as a murder investigation."

It seems sad to me that she hasn't been identified by anybody yet. Let's hope that she is soon.:please:

So LE are speculating that she might be from overseas.

I pray this is not another Eunji Ban situation

Detectives told The Courier-Mail they were canvassing backpacker and student accommodation to try to identify the woman, who was aged in her teens or early 20s.

Police say there is no indication she was homeless despite public speculation, and they were investigating if the woman was an overseas student or backpacker.

Thought I was going nuts. I was sure I saw 5 pieces of jewellery. So went lookingand there it was on a link on the first post. So she has 5 pieces of destinctive jewellery.
Someone who knows her would surely recognise these pieces. MOO

I would not be surprised if this young woman was a backpacker as there are a few backpackers hostels only a few minutes walk from Kurilpa Park. This park is in quite a busy area as it is close to the State Library, the Museum, the Cultural Centre and the Kurilpa Bridge which takes you over to the city.

According to video at below link the woman was found "on a table". :(

Oh, that's just awful

Her rings are very distinctive - especially the combination eg. the delicate diamond one but also the kind of goth skull. Surely somebody recognises that and then realises who she is?!:please:

I'm wondering what the origin of that "L" ring is? It's very unusual.....hopefully if it is representative of a certain culture, somebody from that culture sees the photo and can help police.

yes i'm wondering if police are testing the jewellery. Some metals can be distinctly from another country. MOO

Ah, that's good to know Marg!:seeya: I didn't know that.

Still nobody has come forward to identify the poor girl

I'm seriously hoping that's because she is from overseas and hasn't been here long, rather than being indicative of nobody caring about her.:please:

BAFFLED police have made an extraordinary plea to anyone who today notices a missing loved one, workmate or classmate to come forward as they work to uncover the identity of a Brisbane murder victim...... after early leads ran cold.

Vision from local CCTV cameras and the release of photos of five pieces of jewellery from the victim’s body, including a distinctive “skull” ring, have yielded no further clues.

Insp Reid said an earlier police description of the victim having “olive skin” may not be definitive as she might as easily have been caucasian with “a light tan”.

watching the news and they mentioned this story so sad they they haven't identified her yet. The jewelry hopefully will trigger someones memory. The jewelry looks like the silver jewelry you get on market stalls or shows. so i think it would be more the combination that could help. just my 2 cents
