I searched but could not find a thread for this.

Portland, Vic is my hometown, I was 4 when this happened, I still remember my mum collecting me from kindergarten, and all the sirens and panic of the town.

I'm looking forward to it as well.

Here is an older but more detailed article about the murders.

    http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/gr...506-1ec55.html

THE Old London Inn is one of the more distinguished buildings in the harbourside town of Portland, 350 kilometres south-west of Melbourne.
It was built in 1844 for Stephen Henty, a member of the family that pioneered this first European settlement in the state.
It sits above Portland harbour on the corner of two of the town's main shopping strips, Julia and Bentinck streets.
The Old London hasn't operated as an inn for a very long time. If it did reopen, it would be unlikely to draw much custom.
The inexplicable ghastliness of what happened within its stone walls 20 years ago this week would spook you out of your thirst.
On the afternoon of Friday, May 3, 1991, someone walked into the Old London - then a hairdressing salon - and used a knife and possibly a pair of scissors to slash the lives out of two grandmothers. The weapons have never been found.
There seemed no motive beyond possibly robbery for the killing of hairdresser Claire Acocks, 49, and client Margaret Penny, 58. The salon was ransacked, but only a miserable $100 was missing.
Two decades on, all the questions sparked by that day's events remain unanswered.

ANN Bryden was busy ferrying one of her teenage kids into town in 1991 when she got a phone call that still sticks in her mind.

“You better come back here quickly,’’ her sister, Linda, said, but wouldn’t elaborate.

“I went around to Mum’s place. She was living in Clonard St, and Linda and Mum and Mum’s friends were all crying,’’ Ann says.

“They said to me, ‘Margaret got killed’.’’

    Great news!!!!
You don't get a medal for switching alliances just before the result, as it becomes apparent the other team is set to win.
