Crime scene set up at home of missing Wake Forest man -

WAKE FOREST, N.C. —
Investigators have been searching for clues for three days after a Wake Forest man was reported missing from his home in the Heritage Subdivision on Saturday. On Saturday, they said they had no reason to believe Jansen might be in danger. But one neighbor said he and another neighbor called police after noticing drops of blood in the driveway leading from Jansen's front steps to the grass.

FBI now involved in case of missing Wake Forest man -

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) --

Wake Forest police are now working with the FBI in the case of a man missing from Wake Forest. Wake Forest police reported 63-year-old Frank Janssen missing Saturday. They say he went bike riding at 9 a.m. and returned home. When his wife came home from shopping, she discovered he was not home and became concerned when she saw what appeared to be drops of blood outside the home.

I find it hard to believe Mr. Janssen went missing saturday mid morning. The weather was beautiful and most people would be out and about. They should check any security cameras from homes and businesses to be sure he went on that bike ride.Wallet missing could just be that he had it on him at the time,no one is going to mug you and take you with them.Could he have had an accident and head injury and maybe wondered away?

Actually, the weather was not beautiful on Saturday. It was quite overcast and rainy. There was a neighborhood garage sale planned for that day, however, so there were still some people out. Definitely not a good day for a bike ride.

Weather was beautiful here Saturday. Sunny and warm as I spent all day outside. It was Sunday night and Monday that it rained so heavily.

I did a search on WS a bit ago before posting this item in the "Crimes In The News" section -- but my search didn't bring up this thread...? Anyhow, sorry for misdirecting my original post, mods!

So glad they have rescued him!

The FBI describes its Hostage Rescue Team on the agency website as a national level counterterrorist unit, offering a tactical option for any extraordinary hostage crisis or other law enforcement situation in the U.S. The FBI says the unit, established in 1983, responds to the most urgent and complex FBI cases.

Janssen works for the government in Washington, D.C. during the week, but returns home to Wake Forest on the weekend. The FBI said their involvement in the case has nothing to do with Jansen's employment.

This sounds very intriguing despite what they said. ;)

It is not currently known why police are looking for him and he not currently listed in the statewide Silver Alert system

Janssen is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 175 pounds. He has grey hair and brown eyes. The preliminary incident report also lists as missing a Kindle table and wallet.

Channel 2 Action News was there as Frank Janssen, 63, was rescued from inside a unit at the Forest Cove Apartments just before midnight Wednesday.

He worked in missile defense and had a high security clearance, but investigators do not believe his work had anything to do with his disappearance.

The FBI said a coordinated investigation by the FBI, Wake Forest police and other law enforcement agencies had determined that Janssen had been the victim of a kidnapping and was being held in an apartment complex in Atlanta's southeast section.

Although Janssen commutes during the week to the Washington, D.C., area for his job at a national security consulting firm, investigators don't believe his disappearance is related to his work, Crabtree told WRAL.

The FBI says the unit, established in 1983, responds to the most urgent and complex FBI cases.

bbm Very Interesting.

what a strange case. I wonder how the FBI knew where he was

They said initially that the FBI was not involved because of he works for the government. But I am wondering whether his disappearance may have been due to his status as a government employee.
