Police in Oslo have released photos of a man found in a snow drift in the city in December, having apparently suffered total amnesia, in the hope that someone from his past life will recognize him.

The man, who is in his mid-20s and appears to come from somewhere in Eastern Europe, was found in an industrial area in the east of Oslo in what police described as "a bad condition".

He speaks very good English with an east European accent, understands Czech, Slovak, Polish and Russian, and is calling himself "John Smith" until he recovers memories of his real name.

He reminds me a bit of Steven Koecher. Not entirely(the nose especially) but I did do a double take when I saw the picture before I read the article.

I hope they figure out who he is soon. I would be the has a family looking for him / worried about him.

He's been identified:

A couple in the Czech Republic have contacted Interpol saying 'John Smith', the man found in Oslo in December apparently suffering total amnesia, is their son.

One thing I kind of wonder...if he has amnesia, how does he know that those are really his parents? The plot thickens! Just kidding--I'm sure they have pictures of themselves with him, and that other family and friends would vouch for the connection. Plus DNA. I just think it would be a great plot for a novel: amnesia victim is claimed by people unrelated to him, for sinister reasons! And then intrigue and car chases ensue--

There are other articles. This man was bound, drugged, and abused. I hope they find out who did this. He was away from his family for at least 4 months.

The Czech Republic issues biometric passports so if the man has one it contains his fingerprints.
