Mother of prostitute Sandra Cawthorne appeals for help to find killer

Sandra Cawthorne was 29 and heavily pregnant when she was gunned down in an industrial area in Sydney's west on Easter Monday in 2004.

The mother-of-two, a prostitute, was shot numerous times in the head and body in the industrial area of Arndell Park, near Blacktown.

Now a decade after her death, Ms Cawthorne's mother has appealed to the public to help police find her daughter's killer and bring closure to the family.

"I am pleading with anyone out there who has information that could assist police to please contact Crime Stoppers."

As part of this latest appeal to the public, detectives have released an image of a truck which was seized from a property in Riverstone on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 — the day after Ms Cawthorne’s murder.

The truck was seen in the Arndell Park area shortly before and shortly after Ms Cawthorne’s death, and while it was eventually returned to its owner — who had reported it stolen — police still believe it may be the vehicle Sandra’s killer or killers used to get away from the scene after her murder

What a sad story. I find it hard to imagine a truck as a getaway car it's not exactly small. i hope her family and children find answers. Someone was very angry.

Her lifestyle certainly elevated her risk, though it sounds almost like a hit

-What time of day did this happen? I saw she was discovered around midnight

-Was she "working" when this occurred?

-Was she indebted to anyone (Drugs/money/ETC..) ?

-Did she have a pimp?

-Was he questioned if she did ?

-Who was the father of her child?

-Was he questioned?

-Was there any similar crimes, in the area?

-Any ballistic match of those bullets to any other unsolved crimes?

-What caliber?, is it a common caliber, or an oddball, you may be able to trace the purchase of the ammo of?

-Any fingerprints, taken from the vehicle in question?

-Any fiber evidence to link the victim to that truck?

-Any shell casings?
