Details of Disappearance
Francis Albert-Cloutier was last seen as he left his mother's house about 10:30 p.m. April 15, after watching a Canadiens game. Francis sometimes stayed over at a friend's house on the weekend, if he was out late in St. Marc sur Richelieu, about 25 kilometres east of Montreal. So his mother was not wasn't concerned when her 17-year-old son failed to come home that night.
But when police called her on Sunday, April 16, telling her to come and collect her car from a nearby all-terrain-vehicle trail, she began to worry. The vehicle, a Black, 2001 Chrysler Intrepid was found by a passer-by on Sunday April 16, 2006 near an ATV path of Saint-Amable, beside a wooded area, a short distance from their home. There were no signs of violence in the vehicle. Inside the locked car, Francis' pager and schoolbag were on the seat - but there was no sign of the teenager.
Police, family and friends searched extensively for Francis using police dogs and helicopters to hunt through area forests and swamps. There was no trace of him.
Police have re-interviewed all his friends and brought in a new investigator to take a fresh look at the case, but still have no leads.
Shortly before he mysteriously vanished last spring, Francis had a run-in with a classmate, who owed him money. Both boys were suspended, but made up after they returned to school. His mother doesnt think the altercation has anything to do with her sons disappearance, though in the two weeks that followed, he barricaded himself in his house, as though he feared someone was after him, family has said.
He worked in at a bowling alley in Ste. Julie, and was a good student. Francis had never exhibited signs of depression or suicide and had never run away. There is a reward for information that leads to finding Francis.
