Anniversary of Boston Marathon Bombing Marred by Backpacks left at finish line

Possibly I spoke too soon...wouldn't be the first time, either. My bad.

Person I worked with had an adult son the whole family was afraid of---he was mentally ill, but not enough to get him committed. Or so the authorities and his doctor said.
His family knew what he might be capable of.
This sick son was able to hold down a job most of the time, and lived away from his family. Their repeated efforts to check on his well being led to him threatening them.
Long story, but when we moved from that city and I started work elsewhere, the situation had not been resolved.

Sometimes you can't have an adult committed no matter what you do. Very sad and scary situation.
I do not believe this was this young mans' families' fault in any way. Who knows if they had tried to get him placed somewhere so he'd be safe ? And he refused any help ?
