CA - Marie Sanner, 50, Mount Tamalpais, 17 April 2014

Another woman reported missing on Mount Tamalpais -

    MARIN COUTNY, Calif. --
A woman was reported missing Thursday afternoon in the same area of Mount Tamalpais State Park where a Menlo Park woman was last seen before she was found dead on Saturday, a Marin County sheriff's lieutenant said. The woman's father reported his daughter missing at 2:33 p.m. today, Lt. Doug Pittman said. She was last seen near the Mountain Home Inn a mile east of the Pantoll Ranger Station where 33-year-old Magdalena Glinkowski was last seen on March 30, Pittman said.
Pittman said authorities are concerned about the proximity where the two women were last seen. Two women in two weeks within one mile,” Pittman said before he headed to the search area. “We have preliminary information she was hiking the same trails.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Is that other missing woman the one who went to where the snow was waist high and nobody knew why she was there? Co-workers were confused as well. I will see if I can find that thread.

One of the local tv stations showed her car, a green Honda civic, in a parking lot.

KTVU did give her name but I can't remember and it's not on their site. According to this article she's 50 years old and an experienced hiker.

Crews found the body about 4:45 p.m., just over two hours after the missing woman's father came to the Mountain Home Inn, a mile east of Pantoll Ranger Station, and reported her missing. The father was summoned there when someone found the missing woman's dog and called the number on the tag.

Authorities later learned the woman had been hiking Wednesday night with a companion who planned to stay the night on the mountain. The victim decided to go back to her car, but she never made it back. Her father found her car in the parking lot, leading him to summon authorities.

A lack of details is making this seem very odd. It is probably just a tragic coincidence though.

I hope so, and there isn't a predator following women up the trail.

The person they have found has not been positively identified, but was wearing the same clothing as the missing woman. The deceased had fallen 40 or 50 feet into a boulder-strewn drainage ditch. (from article I linked above).

Police say she 'was quite familiar with the mountain and may have decided to go off the beaten track'.

I wonder if her dog wandered off, and she went looking for it?
