    " The plates had been removed, but the ignition was intact and the doors locked.

    Police don't believe it had been stolen.

    Winnipeg Police reported on Friday, May 2nd that Wheeler's 2010 Jeep Wrangler had been located outside of a motel in the city's west end"

    Well that certainly puts a different spin on things. Missing or evading law enforcement?

    <snip>
    Windsor’s Brandon Wheeler, who went missing April 16 and whose Jeep turned up in Winnipeg two weeks later, is now wanted for sexual assault.

    A Canada-wide arrest warrant for the 30-year-old was issued today by Windsor police, who are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call in.

    Police spokesman Sgt. Matt D’Asti said Windsor police launched an investigation into a sexual assault at about the same time as Wheeler went missing.

    “And as a result of that investigation he is now currently wanted for the offense of sexual assault.”
    <snip>

    D’Asti said at the time Wheeler was reported missing, officers launched a parallel investigation into the sexual assault allegation.

    “And we made a determination there’s definitely enough grounds to lay the charge of sexual assault and he’s currently a wanted person at this stage.”

    He said the victim is a Windsor complainant, but declined to provide any more information in order to protect the victim’s identity.

    It's gone now. Probably due to the outstanding sexual assault charges on him.

    I wonder if he 'disappeared' on purpose.

    Guess it's possible that LE is laying low to find him more easily re: the warrant, than have him run/hide even deeper?

    Windsor native Brandon Wheeler, who is wanted by Windsor Police on six charges relating to an alleged sexual assault last spring, was captured early Friday morning by Saanich Police on British Columbia’s Vancouver Island.

    “Shortly after 7 a.m. this morning thanks to a report by a concerned citizen he was arrested,” said Sgt. Steve Eassie, public information officer for the Saanich Police.

    The 30-year-old Wheeler originally was reported as missing April 16 after failing to show up for work the previous day and was believed to be under some mental stress.

    Wheeler’s 2010 Jeep Wrangler was found in Winnipeg two weeks later with the plates and VIN tag removed. Inside the vehicle, police found literature about staying in hostels in Canada. That’s the last report police had received about Wheeler’s possible whereabouts.
