There was some speculation that this UID was a homeless man that had been seen in the area. Has that been ruled out?

Maybe one of those Nicknames may get Media's Attention.

Otherwise, they may just wait till the two year discovery anniversary this November.

What do you think about the possibility that he was someone who left the Amish faith and was excommunicated? The only thing that is throwing me off is the extensive dental work since the Amish do not believe in health insurance.

My brother has this condition and it can be very very painful, making movement very difficult.
Would there have been anywhere he could have got meds. in the area?

I am not in USA so have no knowledge about meds.

I have a similar condition to this man (kyphosis), and it causes a world of pain. Not sure about medications since I've honestly been too scared to ask for pain pills, oops. I manage on ibuprofen.
I wonder if a tox screen has been run? A lot of common prescription pain medicines should show up.

I feel for this guy. I hope he gets his name back soon.

What about William Scott Currier? Most of the details seem to fit pretty well IMO...(and he hasn’t been ruled out ;)) Additional photos of Bill: The Currier’s – Murderer Found

Elizabethtown is about 8 hours, give or take, from Essex, VA. and out of the way from Constable, NY (where the suspect in the couple’s disappearance/murder owned property), but who knows... he’s locked up in Alaska according to CP, so it’s possible?

(UID stats in parenthesis)
Missing Since: June 8, 2011 (November 1, 2012)
Missing From: Essex, Vermont (Elizabethtown, PA)
Missing Age: 49 years old (30-60)
Height: 5 feet 11 inches (5 feet 9 inches)
Weight: 200 - 240 pounds (unknown)
Hair & Eye Color: Brown, Hazel (unknown)

According to The Charley Project:
William has ankylosing spondylitis, also known as Bekhterev's Disease, an incurable disorder which causes inflammation of the joints. As a result, his neck vertebrae are fused and cannot turn his head from side to side. He also suffers from diabetes and requires insulin daily; he doesn't have the insulin with him.

Details of Disappearance:
William is missing with his wife, Lorraine, from Essex, Vermont. They were last seen by their respective co-workers when they left work at 5:00 p.m. on June 8, 2011. Both of them apparently made it to their home on Colbert Street, but neither of them showed up for work the next day, which is uncharacteristic of them. They have never been heard from again.

When police went to the residence, they found all the doors locked. However, a window in an interior door connecting the house to the garage was newly broken and the home's phone line had been cut.

The Curriers' dark green 1996 Saturn SL2 sedan with the Vermont license plate number ABF-818 was missing, as was a snub-nosed Ruger .38 handgun Lorraine had recently purchased. A photo of the sedan is posted with this case summary. Lorraine's two pairs of eyeglasses and her contact lenses were left behind, but her purse and wallet were missing.

Two days after the Curriers went missing, their car was found abandoned at a parking lot in the 200 block of Pearl Street in Essex Junction, next to a dumpster between two apartment buildings. This is less than a mile from William and Lorraine's home, and a short walk from the bus stop.

Investigators released a sketch of an unidentified man whom a witness may have seen driving the car; the drawing is posted with this case summary.

In July 2012, authorities announced they believe the Curriers had been murdered and they had a suspect, Israel Keyes. He owned a run-down rural cabin in Constable, New York, a town not far from Essex. He checked into an Essex hotel the day before the Curriers vanished, then checked out the day after.

Investigators believe Keyes broke into their home, abducted William and Lorraine and murdered them shortly thereafter. They stated it was a random crime and the couple was not targeted.

A photo of Keyes is posted with this case summary. He is presently in jail in Alaska, awaiting trial for the kidnap and murder of a teenage girl. After his arrest, he confessed to the Curriers' murders and told police where to find their bodies.

William worked an animal care technician for the University of Vermont at the time of his disappearance, and Lorraine worked in the financial services department at Fletcher Allen Health Care, the university's health care center. They have siblings living in Vermont, but no children.

The Curriers haven't used their cellular phones or bank accounts since they went missing, and all their medication was left behind at home. Their bodies have not been located, but foul play is suspected in their cases due to the circumstances involved.

Keyes committed suicide before he could be brought to trial: Israel Keyes - Wikipedia

Essex VT to Elizabethtown PA: خرائط ‪Google‬‏‏

The fact that Currier has the same bone condition as the decedent is certainly a strong link.
Ugh. That figures. Now he’ll never answer to most of the crimes he probably committed.

Thanks for posting the map! It seems like something happened to the Curriers at or near their residence. Keyes lived pretty close and stayed in a motel there at the time. What I don’t understand is why LE think this was a random crime?

Keyes checked into a motel located in the town where the Curriers lived, broke into their home, abducted and murdered them, and presumably disposed of their bodies. Why? He must have had transportation since the couple’s car was found right by their home - or took public transportation (bus). If this was a random crime, he sure went to a lot of unnecessary trouble. Something doesn’t add up IMO.

But assuming investigators know more than us and this was a random crime, I’d imagine Mr. and Mrs. were probably shot to death with the gun that was missing from their home and there’s a good chance they were dumped (I hate even typing that) not too far from one another. So if this John Doe is Mr. Currier, maybe we should be looking for a Jane Doe somewhere between the two points on that map.

Their car was found 2 days after their disappearance but Keyes checked out of the motel the day after. They were last seen leaving work at about 5:00 p.m. so I think that would be just enough time for Keyes to have broke in, murder them and drive 14 hours round trip. I’m guessing he would have used their vehicle. I wonder how far the motel was from where their house was. Hmm. Just thinking out loud here, but it’s not an impossible scenario IMO.

The medical condition does stand out. I’m curious to know the cause of death. If it was a gunshot it would be an even greater possibility. o_O

OMG @carbuff ... ... I always seem to get caught in my most “stupid” moments!!

I just now read the link you posted about Keyes. I don’t know how I seemed to skip right over that and notice the link to the map. Mercy. So...I would like to redact most all of my previous comment. Please. And thank you. lol. Except the part about the couple probably being dumped close to one another...

Per the Wikipedia link you provided upthread (and for anyone who...missed it? doesn’t have access to the link? Idk):
Keyes planned murders long ahead of time and took extraordinary action to avoid detection. Unlike most serial killers, he did not have a victim profile. He usually killed far from home, and never in the same area twice. On his murder trips, he kept his mobile phone turned off and paid for items with cash. He had no connection to any of his victims. For the Currier murders, he flew to Chicago where he rented a car to drive the 1000 additional miles to Vermont. He then used the murder kit he had hidden two years earlier to perform the murders.

-Sincerely, Legally Brunette (I swear)

I'm glad you found that. Saves me a lot of typing :D And yeah, we all do brain fart things.

I think it's entirely possible that he drove them 14 hours away to dispose of the bodies, given his complex planning.

I think when LE said the Curriers were random victims, they mean that Keyes initially chose them at random, not that he didn't plan the murders.

Did you submit Currier, @MadMcGoo? There are a lot of close similarities and nothing I can see to rule it out. The presence of the similar medical condition makes it a very strong possibility.

Keyes might have left husband and wife in different locations and her remains just haven't been found yet. Considering how careful his planning was, he might have rented yet another car to move them far from where anybody would be looking.
