Identified! UT - Provo, Skeletal Remains at base of cliff, Apr'14 - Jakub Growoski

PROVO — A hiker in a remote area of Provo Canyon found the skeletal remains of a person Saturday.

And after Provo police arrived in the area to investigate, they found a second body.

"We believe they are completely unrelated. We've confirmed that the initial body that was found is a 2012 case, a 41-year-old male that went missing," said Provo Police Lt. Mathew Siufanua.

Thank you! I hadn't heard of Jakub's case before, so I couldn't figure out who it might be. I have heard of Jonathan's case. I do believe you are right on both counts! Their families will finally get a clear answer and get to bury their loved ones. Interesting that cases so far apart in years were solved at the same time.

Growoski, 38, disappeared from Provo, Utah on May 18, 2012. In April 2014, his body was found in Provo Canyon at the base of a thousand-foot cliff. Foul play is not suspected; authorities believe he died in an accidental fall while hiking.

Lt. Matt Siufanua with the Provo Police Department said one of the bodies discovered was 41-year-old Jakub Gorowski. Siufanua said Gorowski was a native of Poland, but graduated from BYU in 2001 and had returned to Utah for a visit in 2012 when he went missing on May 18, 2012.
