Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Can an 18 year be a run away? Maybe it's that way because he WAS before? Hope he's found soon.

Local authorities searching for missing teen

Billy Ray Wren, 18, was last seen around 1 a.m. on Sunday, April 20, while walking in the woods away from Lick Creek, near Smith Lake. According to Cullman County Sheriff Mike Rainey, Wren and a friend were fishing in Lick Creek and the friend went back to his mother’s house and Wren stayed at the creek.
“His friend went back out to the area to look for Wren where he was last and couldn’t find him, so he came back and told family members and they looked for him for a while, but were only able to find his fishing rod and his shirt,” Rainey said. “They looked all day and then contacted us this morning and filed a missing persons report. We have exhausted all efforts to locate him, but have not yet.”

Dive teams did not find anything in the water and feel confident he isn't in the creek.

His sister added that Wren's hat was also found in the water. The family searched on their own today in an area off of County Road 68.

    Search for missing teen downsized

"The search for a Cullman County teen who was reported missing over the weekend was downsized Thursday, after investigators said they have exhausted all efforts to try and locate the 18-year-old."

“We’ve searched the wooded areas on both sides of the creek with volunteers out of Crane Hill and Colony,” Clay said. “We have task forces from Walker, Winston and Cullman counties here, the Smith Lake task force, the Coast Guard, and we still haven’t found anything at this point. We’re just trying to still focus on searching the waters.”

"Clay said they will continue to search the area in the upcoming days and ask if anyone with information on Wren or his potential whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s office."

Crews are searching Lick Creek, which is a tributary that runs into Smith Lake. The area is near the Lions Club landing.

Major Clay says if the search continues Friday, efforts will be downsized. The boats with sonars will continue but divers will not be brought in until a specific area is pinpointed.

    awww, RIP

Rainey says the sheriff’s office dispatch received the call around 9:26 a.m. that the body was found 100 yards southwest of where Wren was last seen. The body was spotted by a boater.
