    FL - Ankita Lavender, 16, Middleburg, 29 April 2014

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. - An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing Clay County teen.

A search is under way for 16-year-old Middleburg resident Ankita Lavender. The Clay County Sheriff's Office says she called her father at 7:20 p.m. and said two white men grabbed her and pulled her into a white truck. Her phone has been off since that time and no one has been able to contact her.

I am glad to hear she was found safe as well. Apparently she was found on the side of the road from the article I posted above. So scary, but a real miracle she was found alive. Hopefully they find the creeps who took her.

They're supposed to be updating live at this link.

Are you freaking kidding me? This little girl needs some counseling first and foremost. Then some community service to pay back the money wasted trying to find and save her. She is darn lucky she isn't mine because I've been known to assign 3-500 word essays for punishment. I think in her case she'd be spending her summer vacation writing at least 3-5,000 words on the Amber Alert system!

A 16-year-old girl who was reported missing Tuesday allegedly fabricated the story of her abduction, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office. http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/...g-girl/8494535

The reported abduction caused investigators to issue an Amber Alert.
Gann said Lavender was found lying on her back about a half a mile from where the search was based. She complained of injuries, saying she was thrown from the truck. http://www.actionnewsjax.com/content..._BNEcpyhg.cspx

    "
Prosecutors will review the case for possible charges.

"My personal opinion is that she should be charged, but that's a matter for the state attorney's office," Aldrich said.

Aldrich said the Sheriff's Office throws all available resources at a missing juvenile case like this, "because you never know which ones are legitimate."
He estimates Tuesday night's search cost $5,000-$6,000, and they will seek reimbursement from the family through the courts.

The 16-year-old girl who told her parents she was pulled into a truck by two men Tuesday night has admitted she made up the story to try to get sympathy from her ex-boyfriend, Clay County Sheriff's Office Col. Craig Aldrich said on Wednesday morning.

Investigators said the girl had recently separated with her boyfriend and was actively evading being found during a short but intensive search for her."

As she should! I woke up so many of my friends and family, (who live in Middleburg) people out searching....the worries of all who went looking...

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- Investigators with the Clay County Sheriff's Office say a 16-year-old girl staged her abduction Tuesday night and should face charges.

The decision will ultimately be up to the State Attorney's Office.

Oh no! Well I hope your friends and family aren't too upset that they won't help in the future if need be. I'm sure everyone that was involved in her search is just absolutely frustrated to find out it was a hoax. And I imagine her loved ones are a bit embarrassed. I know I would be.

I might have been a bit harsh with my previous statement. I was so angry, and I still am, but I've thought about this all day. Although I would still like to see her punished, I really think this girl must have some issues that would cause her seek out attention in this way. It's almost as if she wanted to see how many people cared, if anyone cared. Or if anyone would even bother to try and find her. This girl was found nearly 4 hours later, lying on her back alongside a road. I can't imagine how long she must have lain there. Surely not the whole four hours??

I am glad she was safe and it wasn't real. That would have certainly been a horrifying ordeal for a young girl. I just hope that she can get the help that she obviously needs. Maybe family counseling would be in order.

    JMO of course
