Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

There's not a ton of info here, but a little bit more: http://www.findalanporter.com/. I'm glad to see he's still coming up in the news. There's a picture of his motorcycle on that "find" website. Hopefully that will help.

    Alan Porter

The motorcycle community here in Sacramento is trying to help. Based on his route from home to the gas station, he was headed northeast. If he jumped on the Cap City freeway, he was headed towards the Sierras. There's hundreds of roads to take for a nice ride through the foothills. Honestly, no phone, no use of his cards, no contact and no indication of trouble at home, I fear the worst. Until some kind of hint pops up, this is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

For a second I was hoping that someone stole his bike and they are the fatality. But then I realized that would mean Alan is still out there somewhere and that scenario doesn't play out well. At least his family will have closure soon. Still sad to lose a fellow rider

    RIP Alan.

Anubis wow sounds like you called it on where he was headed, generally speaking. Thank you to you and your friends in the motorcycle community who were involved.

I'm sad to see this... not surprised, but sad. As soon as I heard where he was found I remembered some scary moments on that road in my car. It's just so twisty in spots. It's a fun and gorgeous drive but maybe too much 'fun' sometimes. I'm so sorry that he's gone but I'm glad his family has closure. I'm also glad he was doing something he loved and hope he didn't suffer.
