"Jian Ping Li, 42, was reported missing by her husband after he returned home in the mid-afternoon.

Const. Mark David of Longueuil police said police are examining all possible angles.

“Is it a woman who left home because of a depression? Is it a woman who wanted to commit suicide? Was it a woman who was abducted? We have to look at these angles,” David said."

"We've verified the hospitals, motels, hotels, taxi services, transport services in the area. We've gone to the local stores to verify the security videos to see if she's gone into one of these stores. So far it's not conclusive, we haven't found her,” said Longueuil police representative Marc David.

Li is not considered depressed or suicidal.

Li stands 5’0” (1.52 m) and weighs 143 lb (65 kg) She speaks Mandarin and has shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes. She wears glasses and might be wearing a long coat and yellow runners.

Her baby is also Asian in appearance.

Anybody with information is asked to call 911."

Thanks for posting. This is local for me. I drove by her house earlier but all was quiet- no police cars. On the way back I noticed a RDI news truck parked by the river but no police activity at all. She lives very close to the river. This is concerning. Though to access it she would have had to walk along some very busy streets under the 132 and walk along a bike/running path. There are also numerous high rises and condo complexes along the St. Lawrence. It has been raining intermittently and quite cold the past few days.
There hasn't been much talk of this on the news though and no organized searches. I have yet to see a flyer or poster :(. Be safe Jian and baby.

Umm did hubby work? Why did he go home mid afternoon?

Ok confused. So she has short hair? The police handout has her with long hair past her shoulders. And is that her son? Because to be 6 months old he would have been born in November and there is no way that any picture taken outside in Canada except maybe BC since then looks like that. It still doesn't. There are no leaves on the trees yet and grass is barely starting to grow. So if that is her son the picture would have been taken last year which would put his age closer to 1. Or the picture is taken someone elsewhere than Canada which would mean that he has a passport. Or they traveled to BC recently but then her hair would still be short and not shoulder length as described. Hmmm

Bumping, where is this lady and her baby, it is cold and wet outside, they need to be home.

good point.. 'weird' LKL

So still no news on this woman and her baby. The police had a command post set up outside her house today and were re-interviewing neighbours. It's been exactly one week since she disappeared. We have mutual friends and I just found out that she has 3 children. A boy of 8, a 5 year old girl and the baby. Nobody is searching, no posters are being put up. Either the police know much more than they are saying or they have seriously half assed this investigation.

"Detectives admit the trail has gone cold.

“That’s the big question mark, we have no reason for the disappearance,” Cst. Jean-Pierre Voutsinos says.

“So any clue is a good clue at this point.”

On Wednesday, Longueuil Police held an operation in the missing woman’s neighbourhood.

They went door-to-door passing out information flyers to area residents.

The Sun Youth group is offering a reward up to $5,000 for an important tip.

“It’s a miserable experience for us,” Sherry Wang says, holding back tears.

“We hope she and the baby are ok and they come back to us, no matter what.”

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Longueuil Police at 450-463-7211"

"Friends worried

Members of the church where Li worships say they are worried about the young mother of three and her son.

Kang Liu says her thoughts are with Li's two other children and her husband.

"With this event we really realize we are family, and she's our family member and we are praying for her 24 hours," she told CBC News".

Bumping this case, cannot find anything new, this link is from May 7..

"The Missing Children’s Network is also helping with the investigation.

“We’re extremely worried right now,” said the network’s executive director Pina Arcamone, who added it’s very rare for a woman and a baby to disappear for so long. “There’s absolutely no trace of her. It seems like she vanished off the face of the Earth.”

Voutsinos said it’s not often that a baby disappears with his mother, and said police have not discounted any possible reasons for the disappearance including kidnapping, postpartum depression or suicide.

According to reports from her husband, friends and relatives, the woman didn’t seem to be depressed, and the family had no previous incidents with police, Voutsinos said."

"Li is of Asian descent, she weighs about 145 pounds, she’s about 5 feet tall, has black hair to her shoulders, brown eyes, with contact lenses. She speaks Mandarin, French and English.

She may be wearing a long black coat and yellow running shoes.

Sun Youth is also offering a $5000 reward to anyone with information that leads to finding Li and her baby."

Family of missing woman and her son still waiting for news

If Xiao Feng Lu were home today, he would probably just be learning how to crawl and stand up.

But for the last two months there has been no sign of the baby, who would now be 8 months old. He and his mother Jian Ping Li disappeared April 30, and police still have no clues as to their whereabouts.

Li was reported missing after her husband Hong Hui Lu returned to an empty home in the early afternoon of April 30. Li’s purse and wallet and the baby stroller were still at home.

[snip]

Last month, Brossard Police dug up the back yard of the couple’s home on Sabourin Cres.

Voutsinos said there are so far no suspects in the case.

Well they seem to suspect something if they dug up the backyard.

Jian Lun Li and Jian Ying Li arrived from China almost three months ago and now call Montreal home. Since their arrival, they’ve dedicated their lives to one thing: finding their missing little sister...

Li works as a police detective in central China and has taken a temporary leave from his job, using his skills here to find his Canadian sister.

Li worries something bad has happened. “I believe she was kidnapped or killed,” he says holding back tears.

"Sanjun Li said his sister had a difficult job as a computer programmer at Z-Wave, but she always made time for family, driving her two older children to piano classes and hockey games.

Since her disappearance, another brother and sister who live in Toronto have been staying in Montreal, helping out with the family, and waiting to hear news from police.

“This is a very difficult time,” Sanjun Li said. “We’re sad every day. It is a big tragedy for our family.

He said it has been especially difficult for his parents, who are 85 years old and still live in China.

Brossard Police say the investigation into Jian Ping Li’s disappearance is still open, but they have no new leads.

Constable Jean-Pierre Voutsinos said Brossard Police have enlisted the help of an RCMP Asian crime specialist, and have widened the search. The Missing Children’s Network has also been helping with the investigation."

Lengthy article..

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montr...eve-missing-woman-child-were-killed-1.2713486

"Const. Mark David of Longueuil police said the team investigating Li and Lu's disappearances have so have followed up on 90 tips, but that none of them have led to their discovery.

David said police have already conducted canine and helicopter searches and have involved provincial police, the RCMP and the Coast Guard. He also said Interpol was involved based on a tip that Li took her Chinese passport with her when she left her home.

Her young son does not have a passport.

David said investigators are working with Sino-Québec, an organization that seeks to improve relations and communication with the Chinese community. They also say a Mandarin-speaking officer is helping communicate with the family but the officer is not working directly on the investigation.

David said Li and Lu's disappearances remain a high priority for Longueuil police."
