MD - Hani Heiba, 29, Anne Arundel County, 4 May 2014

    Hani Heiba

Police seek missing NJ man last seen at BWI-Marshall Airport -
Police: Hani Heiba, 29, routinely commutes to Md. from NJ for work

Hani Heiba, 29, of Springfield, N.J., has been missing since about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The Springfield Police Department said Heiba routinely travels from New Jersey to St. Mary's County, Maryland, for work. They said he was last seen at the Avis Rental Car office at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Officials said Heiba may have come to Maryland by train and rented a car to complete the remainder of his commute. The vehicle that police believe Heiba rented from BWI-Marshall was a gray Ford Fusion. It was found abandoned at a hotel in Prince Frederick, Maryland State Police said.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Interesting. Per his LinkedIn profile, he's a test engineer for F135s (aerospace engineering). Prince Frederick is an out-of-the-way place to stay for business, though I guess you could cross the Patuxent River to go to places like Raytheon and Northrup Grumman.

BWI is served by both Amtrak and MARC (Maryland commuter train).

This article gives a lot more information:

    http://www.nj.com/union/index.ssf/20..._maryland.html

It says he is a government contractor who would usually spend about three weeks at a time at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River in St. Mary's County, Md.

He apparently took an Amtrak train from Penn Station (I assume in Philadelphia) for Maryland. It wasn't until his family reported him missing that they discovered that he had rented a car at BWI. The car was found abandoned at the hotel with the door open. LE is characterizing his disappearance as "suspicious."

Very little on it. Surprising given his age. But I guess you can't draw any conclusions from that.

UPDATE: Maryland State Police Investigating Death of New Jersey Man
    May 7, 2014
    UPDATE:
MSP Investigators from the Criminal Enforcement Division Central South Region are investigating the death of a New Jersey man, previously reported as missing.

The deceased is identified as Hani Heiba, 29, of the unit block of New Brook Lane in Springfield, New Jersey. Heiba was found deceased in a ravine in Prince Frederick, Maryland. The cause and manner of death are pending autopsy results.

At 5:30 p.m. today, police discovered Heiba in a heavily wooded ravine, about 166 yards from the front of the hotel located in the 300-block of Merrimac Court in Prince Frederick. Emergency medical personnel pronounced Heiba deceased at the scene.

Heiba was reported missing on Sunday, May 4, 2014 through the Springfield Police Department in New Jersey. His last known location was at the Avis Rental Car office located at BWI Airport on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 11:30 p.m. He was wearing a white shirt and a dark colored jacket.

Police believe Heiba left New Jersey on May 4th, 2014 en route to Maryland by train, where he rented a car to complete the remainder of his commute. Heiba rented a grey Ford Fusion, later found abandoned at the hotel in Prince Frederick.

An extensive search of the area by the Maryland State Police Mobile Field Force and deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office was conducted. Heiba was found in the wooded area.

Police believe Heiba may have suffered from a medical condition. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending autopsy results.

    RIP, Hani.

Medical condition? Perhaps he felt ill, and instead of going into his room (perhaps he had not yet checked in?) he went off the parking lot and collapsed?

He was found in a ravine. Sounds like a homicide. Car door left open. Like someone acosted him as he was getting out of his car.

Just curious if anyone has seen info on the cause of death. This article indicates they expected to release the autopsy results last Thursday (May 8): http://m.somdnews.com/article/201405...MarylandMobile

While the official cause of death of a New Jersey man who was found dead in Prince Frederick earlier this month still is under investigation, information passed from the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick barrack indicate he died of natural causes, Det. Sgt. Jeffrey Jones of the MSP said Thursday.

Hani Heiba, 29, of Springfield, N.J., appears to have died of a liver condition, Det. Sgt. Rosemary King of the MSP said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is awaiting the results of a drug toxicology screen to give a definitive cause of death statement, King said.

    Thanks, OG!

This is perplexing. I understand he had medical issues (liver condition), but, how does that explain him being found dead in a ravine in the woods? Car door left open. No way do I believe this!

The article says they believe he became disoriented, wandered away from the car and fell, hitting his head. I agree that it seems strange but the article also says his family was aware of the medical condition.
