Calling Ernest Harvin a "professional" drug dealer, a judge sentenced the Williamstown man to up to 17 years in state prison for a slew of heroin and gun charges in a case with links to a slain North Adams man...

During a Berkshire County Drug Task Force Investigation from the summer of 2013, investigators learned that Harvin, who goes by "E" and "Ezus," was supplying heroin to dealers in the Northern Berkshires, including a 25-year-old North Adams man named Joshua Bressette.

Bressette was taken into custody in a sting operation after selling heroin to a police informant and agreed to "give up" Harvin, his supplier... Bressette went missing several months later. His body — with three gunshot wounds to the back, one to the head — was found by New York Police Department officers atop the Gun Hill Houses, a public housing project in the Bronx, on May 8.

It seems obvious who is responsible, but I guess at this point it will take a confession and nothing else. BYW, Harvin was a resident from the Bronx.

Prisoner to get mental health check for charges related to escape attempt

Amid claims he did not understand why he was in court and after exhibiting "paranoid" behaviors, a convicted drug dealer was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation before proceeding to trial on new charges of escape, intimidation and
threatening to commit a crime.

Ernest Harvin, 40, of Williamstown is serving a 14- to 17-year prison sentence after pleading guilty in 2014 to multiple charges, including possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

About one week before that plea hearing, Harvin allegedly faked a suicide attempt and was sent to Berkshire Medical Center for treatment.

DA seeks information on murder of North Adams man found killed in the Bronx in 2014 | WWLP

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) – Authorities on Friday renewed their call for information on the 2014 murder of a North Adams man who was reported missing and later found shot to death on a rooftop in Bronx, New York.

State Police detectives assigned to the Berkshire DA’s Office and the North Adams Police Department are assisting New York authorities in the homicide investigation. They believe it has connections and potential crimes that occurred in Massachusetts.

Bressette was born in North Adams on June 6, 1988. He attended North Adams Public Schools and worked as a bicycle mechanic in Williamstown. He would have been 33 on Sunday.

DA Andrea Harrington said his family deserves closure and justice.

If Kenna Waterman is to ever find out who shot and killed her son, Joshua S. Bressette, ending years of uncertainty, that day might come only after police reckon with the case of Ernest A. Harvin.

For years, details of these men’s lives — Bressette and Harvin — have played out in court documents, police reports and newspaper stories. Together, they once supplied heroin across northern Berkshire County.

They did business together, until they didn’t.

And not long after that, Bressette, 25, was found shot to death on the roof of a public housing complex in the Bronx, one of several lives lost in a bloody month of violence in 2014 in that New York borough.

Soon after, Harvin went to prison for heroin and gun charges, where he remains. When his drug-trafficking career came apart, Harvin had reason to think that Bressette, the young, blue-eyed man from North Adams, was his undoing.

This is a story about a drug dealer, a police informant and an unsolved killing.
