    TX - Gregory Holliday, 63, Dallas, 12 May 2014

    Gregory Holliday

Former assistant Dallas police chief missing, may harm himself -

Dallas police are asking for the public’s help locating a former assistant police chief missing since Monday afternoon. In 1986, Gregory Holliday was promoted from captain to assistant chief to head the department’s North Central Division. He served in intelligence for three years prior to that. Holliday, 63, left his home and was last seen walking near the 5800 block of Campbell Road in Far North Dallas about 2 p.m. Holliday had been depressed, according to the police report. Police believe he could be armed and may harm himself.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

UPDATE: Dallas police say missing assistant chief walked away from car crash Monday

    http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/2...-himself.html/

Officials now say that Greg Holliday walked away from a car accident about 4:15 p.m. Monday in which he suffered minor injuries.

Maj. Max Geron said the former assistant police chief left the scene, at Midway and Frankford roads, before police arrived.

He refused to cooperate with Dallas Fire-Rescue after rolling up onto the hood of the driver’s car, and walked away. There have been numerous sightings since but none are confirmed.
I was reminded of the saying "we dont call 911 in texas"' So I wonder if he decided just to walk instead of let Dallas emt, or fire dept help. ... not seriously ,but it would cross my mind.!

I wonder if they sent the chaser chopper up?

He was also attempting to wean himself off a medication.

“The indications now are that he is suffering from some type of health issue that is causing him to not know where is and be very confused,” Sherwin said. “Coupled on top of that depression and the injury with the automobile accident, now you’ve got some real issues.”

Police said Monday that they thought Holliday might have a gun. On Tuesday, they said it was unclear whether he was armed.

Roosevelt Nelson says he did not know who Holliday was when he hit him but that the man refused treatment and ran off.
As the search got underway, one man had a close encounter with Holliday without realizing whom he had - literally - run into Monday evening.
“I was driving and it was raining and I hit him and he flew over and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I just hit this dude!’” Roosevelt Nelson told KXAS-TV.

I guess that explains the first reports ,of him missing ,and later the accident .

On the comment the driver of the car post more.

The body of a man matching the description of Greg Holliday, 63, was found in a creek near Preston Trail Golf Club Saturday morning. A statement from the department said the body was located by game wardens from Texas Parks and Wildlife using a boat and sonar gear.

Police said the man was dressed similarly to Holliday, although the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office has yet to provide a positive identification.

    Dang.

You know, I rarely watch the news. Most of the time it is in the morning when I am getting ready for work and on my lunch hour. But during this time, the only way I knew of this was here. And that is sad. Especially when these links are coming from the channel I watch! This has been bothering me since Alejandra Gonzalez went missing.

I notice the article in the link says LE is now "backing away" from their belief that he was hit by a car, saying they're not sure it was him. Not sure what that indicates. Hope they can find answers for his wife and family. Very sad.
