    NY - Garry McKeon, 67, Somers, 9 May 2014

Search continues for 67-year-old Somers man Gary McKeon, missing since Friday

    http://westchester.news12.com/news/s...iday-1.8000450

SOMERS Garry McKeon's family spent the weekend combing the town, distributing fliers and following up on tips as the search continues for the missing Somers granddad who vanished Friday.

"We've all stayed pretty positive," said one of McKeon's five children, Eamon, who lives in White Plains. "The search around (Somers) hasn't turned up anything. We're thinking if he got anywhere, maybe someone picked him up and didn't realize who they were dealing with. We're looking for any help we can possibly get."

Garry McKeon, a 67-year-old who has Parkinson's disease and dementia and needs medication, was last seen Friday morning. State troopers were called in to investigate shortly afterward, according to authorities, and the search area now includes New York City, the Lower Hudson Valley and Connecticut. He remained missing Monday morning.

    On Saturday we got a call at work;
"RED ALERT issued for Missing Person".
The call said we will hear helicopters, and we did.
Authorities acted quickly. I got another robo call today with a description of the missing man. Hope he is found soon.

I saw posters all around yesterday on my drive home, even drive thru at McDonald's.

Efforts to find McKeon -- who has dementia and Parkinson's disease, according to an alert -- are being shared in a Facebook group called Missing Man from Somers NY, which has involvement from members of his family. In a post on Monday, May 12, Sara McKeon Almeida gave a recap of what she has done. This includes a canvassing of an area where he grew up, specifically Cabrini Boulevard in Washington Heights; personally checking New York City hospitals; talking with commuters at the Goldens Bridge train station; handing out fliers; and the use of police and dogs to search the property and nearby vicinity.

If the place he grew up is more than a normal walking distance away, they need to concentrate less on that and put most of the resources toward the immediate area of the home/neighborhood, with special attention to any structure a man could hide in and water if there is a body of water in the area. I don't know why, they go toward water a lot.

The family and community are doing an excellent job all over Westchester and NYC metro area. There will be another local search this evening.

His family is working to get the word out on social media, using the hashtag #HelpFindGarry.

McKeon, a father of five, is believed to be on foot. Authorities are conducting an intense search, and family and friends have been going door to door in an effort to find him.

SOMERS, N.Y. (AP) — A 67-year-old man missing since last Friday has been found dead in woods not far from his Westchester County home.

Authorities say no foul play was suspected in Garret McKeon's death. The retired owner of a Manhattan commercial moving company suffered from Parkinson's disease.

He was found Thursday by tree company workers in the woods off Route 202 in Somers.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

Very sad news for me this morning.

I only have computer access at work.

This is local for me. We got a robo call Saturday, another one on Tuesday.
I've seen the posters and been active in the community.

My heart goes out to his family and friends.

I cannot stress enough the strength of the community and his family who did all they could. I am crying now for this dear man and his family.

First thing I saw this morning at work checking my email.

McKeon's death was first reported Thursday by LoHud.com, which stated that his body was found in woods between Route 202 and Boniello Drive. The paper also reported on the coincidental birth of his granddaughter, Caitlin Theresa O'Connor, at Mount Kisco's Northern Westchester Hospital.

This is very close to his home. Wooded area. I am sad.
