This just makes me so terribly sad...... for Susan, Charlie, Braden and all who loved them.

Hoping Josh is enjoying his stay in he!! and his is that special one reserved for the most wicked.

At the link below there is a video of Susan that is heartbreaking.

It’s a spellbinding story that uncovers and brings to life the emotions behind a Utah woman’s disappearance.

A compelling true-crime story needs a mesmerizing character at its center, and writers Gregg Olsen and Rebecca Morris found that in Susan Cox Powell and her 2009 disappearance.

"She is so relatable in every way," Olsen says of Powell, talking in present tense about the missing woman at the center of his latest book, "If I Can’t Have You," to be released Tuesday. "She’s trying to hang onto her marriage, trying to raise her sons and really not knowing what she’s up against. People see Susan’s picture on TV, they look at her and say: ‘That’s my mom,’ ‘That’s my sister’ or ‘That’s the neighbor next door.’ "

smh I hope Steve Powell is being closely monitored.

There’s also a possibility, Morris and Olsen report, that B., the younger boy, was molested by Steve or his son John. Upon the state of Washington awarding custody of C. and B. to the Coxes, B. was diagnosed with a fungal skin infection.

There are multiple ways to contract such an infection, and one of them is sexual contact. That’s slim evidence of child molestation, and the authors acknowledge that. But in light of Steve’s voyeurism of his neighbor girls, and John’s mental illness, Morris and Olsen articulate the Coxes’ suspicions.

What happened to Susan, and the aftermath, should be a textbook case for Domestic Violence classes on what to do and what not to do, when a wife goes missing. All the signs were there; the journal at work, her misgivings and even her demeanor in the video posted here on this thread. This was a woman who needed help. I hope others will get better counseling than she did and will leave a potentially dangerous situation.

In a scene shortly after Josh kills C., B. and then himself, a sobbing West Valley City police Chief Buzz Nielsen tells Susan’s father "You were right all along" about Josh. Chuck Cox’s reaction is probably the same one readers will have.

The facts offer a few new theories.

One is that Powell’s husband, Josh Powell, planned to dispose of Susan in early 2009 — months before she disappeared. Josh wanted a couple’s camping adventure, but the trip was aborted when Susan refused to leave their two sons in the care of her father-in-law, Steve Powell.

Morris and Olsen also suggest Josh might have been poisoning Susan in the weeks before she disappeared. Josh was making Susan special smoothies, and during this time she reported feeling so nauseated she thought she was pregnant and had miscarried. Both theories are based on witness accounts. No other evidence is offered.

I hope 'someone' is burning in Hades.

When Josh Powell met Susan: Book excerpt part I

...Judy and Chuck had some reservations about their daughter’s new boyfriend. They had met him before, when Josh tried asking out their oldest daughter, Mary. Josh had shown up at their house the night of Mary’s prom. She had a date and was at the dance but it didn’t matter to Josh. He planted himself in a living room chair intent on staying to chat with Judy about Mary, the weather, anything at all. Judy felt like she’d been caught in a steel-jawed leg trap. There was no getting rid of the kid.

Finally, Chuck came home. In his typical no-nonsense fashion, he was direct when he told Josh that the visit was over.

"You need to go now," he said.

Josh didn’t get it. He just sat there, looking blank-eyed. And kept talking.

Chuck had never seen anything like it...

I don't think I can read this book. Just the excerpts are making me emotional. :tears:

It makes me want to go back to the desert in Utah to still search for her but I know it is pointless, at this time.

(((Hugs))) to you Jacie- I know, the situation is just heart breaking. Everything being posted brings up enormous red flags, in and of themselves, but in combination it is just staggering. I hope she is found one day but I have serious reservations that he left her in any kind os state where that would be possible. RIP Susan, with your beloved baby boys. Josh most certainly is nowhere near the three of them, and is either burning in hell or back on earth to try it again. God help us, if it is the latter.

I bought the book this morning and have started reading it. It is very well written. Those of us who have followed this story from the beginning here on Websleuths already know most of it. It is a story that will always haunt me. Such a tragedy!!

I am confused. Did Washington State take over the case?

The last thing I read was that West Valley City Police closed the active investigation. IMO, they sure closed it down fast.

Snip: " West Valley City • It's pretty much over. And Susan Powell is still missing.

West Valley City police closed the active investigation into Powell's disappearance on Monday, although police administrators and the city manager said detectives would investigate any new leads.

The city then released thousands of pages of documents related to the case. Those documents expand on the 3½-year investigation into Susan's husband, Josh Powell, and his family, though they don't all point the finger at him."

Steven Powell's.neighbors sued him and bought his home in foreclosure, his home filled w all property still to be searched this week.breaking news. I'm so glad.
