Silt woman reported missing -
Claudia Ruiz, 44, of Silt, has been missing since May 17, her family reports.
No foul play is suspected, and local police are treating the matter as an “attempt to locate” rather than a missing person. Ruiz’s family said she has a history of mental illness and has gone missing before, though never for so long. She was last seen in Glenwood Springs on Saturday morning. When her daughter attempted to flag her down, she boarded an upvalley RFTA bus. People have since reported seeing her in Basalt, Glenwood and Rifle, although none of these sightings has been confirmed."When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Claudia Ruiz, 44, got on a Roaring Fork Transportation Authority bus in Glenwood Springs at about 10 a.m. Saturday, according to her daughter, Jennehii Ruiz. The bus was bound for Aspen but a review of the video from an on-bus camera showed Claudia Ruiz exited at El Jebel, Jennehii said. The Ruiz family has no friends or family in El Jebel, so Claudia’s decision to get off the bus there is perplexing, Jennehii said.
Her family plastered the Roaring Fork Valley and Lower Colorado River Valley with flyers about the missing woman. “We’ve just been trying to get the word out to the public,” she said.
The family has also talked to numerous law enforcement agencies in the valley, she said.
