Beckley Police are asking for help from the community to find a man who disappeared during the week of May 7, 2014.

Travis Basile Summers, 44, was last seen around the One-Stop on Eisenhower Drive that is near the Freedom Skate Park. Summers is 5-feet 10-inches tall and 175 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes. Summers' family said it is unusual for him to not contact them, and they have also not been able to get in touch with him since he disappeared.

"We're still looking in to what happened and we are talking to his friends. We found out some information on some of the phone calls he made prior to being missing and we've been talking to some people that he's being talking to, to determine where he may be," Farley told us.

What we know right now:
- The remains were found on Feb. 13 along Upper Sandlick Road
- It is believed to be a homicide "because of the way the remains were situated" [I'm assuming they were found partially buried or something]
- The WV State Police is investigating

They haven't said whether they have a specific person/potential match in mind.

It does say they were found near Eccles, although it doesn't say how close.

Okay, I've marked the full length of Upper Sandlick Road as well as Eccles. Based on that description, I would guess it must have been on the southern part of Upper Sandlick Road, nearer Old Co 16. https://goo.gl/maps/8xtpU

Obit shows:
Travis Basile Roy Summers, 44 of Crab Orchard, WV passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014.

But has he actually been found? He is still listed on NamUs, etc.
Maybe the family just wanted closure and had a service a year later?

Well now that makes more sense and answers my questions re the service. I'm so glad he was actually found and want to add my prayers of "RIP Travis" to his case.

Detectives with the Beckley Police Dept. said this is still very much an active investigation, but they need help from the public. They are looking for anyone who may have had contact with Summers the week he disappeared, especially during the week of May 7, 2014.

"We have determined several persons of interest in this case that we are attempting to locate. We've completed numerous interviews so far in this investigation, but at this point, we ask that anyone with information to come forward and provide that," said Det. Morgan Bragg with the Beckley Police Dept.

Cold Case of Mysterious Murder Heats up

Police received new information regarding the case which lead to new leads. Detective of the Beckley Police Department, Sergeant Morgan Bragg, believes there is more information to be uncovered.

"We feel like there are a lot of people that know about this incident and know about how Mr. Summers was murdered, and we'd like them to come forward," Bragg said.
