TX - William Abel, 39, New Braunfels, 17 May 2014

    William Abel

Man reported missing following trip to collect gambling debt -

    NEW BRAUNFELS --
39-year-old William Abel has been reported missing after he didn't show up for his daughter's wedding on Saturday, May 17th. Abel was driving to Austin before the wedding to pick up a gambling debt from a person named "Ray," the New Braunfels Police Department said. Several attempts were made to contact Abel on his cell phone, but it went directly to voicemail each time. Abel has not been heard from since before the wedding.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

He MAY have been seen in Hillsboro, TX which is about 130 miles north of Austin. The article is a bit thin on details. I wish we had more info from the family.

Do we know what the debt that he was trying to collect was for?

    It was a gambling debt.

Abel's ex-wife, Kim Abel, says she received a call from him at 1:33 p.m. and he said he was on his way back. No one has seen him or heard from him since.

His family is worried because he was looking forward to walking his stepdaughter down the aisle that evening. "He brought the tux back here. He was ready to rock and roll. He said he was going to look great in his tux and nothing," Kim Abel explained. "I don't know what happened to him. I don't know what's going on.

"The last activity on his credit card was on his card in Hillsboro. We don't even know if it was him," she said.
William was last seen wearing a Green Bay Packers hat, a blue Duck Dynasty t-shirt, blue jean shorts, white socks, and brown work boots. He has tattoos on his right forearm, right shoulder, and back. He was driving a maroon 2004 Chevy Silverado extended cab pickup with a silver tool box and license plate BE37645.

This article states that he was in town for his daughter's wedding and that he is from the town of Cibolo, TX. According to Google maps Cibolo is about 15 miles from New Braunfels FWIW.
I hope there is video of him or the person using his credit card in Hillsboro.

Has anyone seen a FB page?

I wonder if the article is just written in a confusing way. It says that he died in an accident yesterday...the 23rd....he was reported missing on the 17th.

Poked around a little to find out what happened because it is very confusing. According to family members on FB, it appears that Will was heading home from New Mexico and was only two hours away when he hit a semi head-on. Killed him instantly.
