Crowds descended on a Burbank shopping mall Thursday, after the mystery cash dropper tweeted a clue that 'sounds like somewhere an eagle or robin might keep their money'.

Traffic ground to a halt and people were going through trash cans, searching for the envelopes stuffed with cash. $210 was found by a young teen girl, who is going to use it to help her ailing grandmother.

The cash dropper is going to stay in LA over the weekend, but says all the second batch of cash has now been found and he/she?? will be hiding more later.

ETA - I'd never have got that clue - 'birdbank' sounds nothing like 'burbank' to me!

I'm sorry - I'm all for good intentions, but he's causing problems. Traffic coming to a halt, police needed to control crowds. Now this is dipping into taxpayer funds as he's taking police away from what they could be doing otherwise.

If he wants to give money away, great! Go down to any street corner and find someone down on their luck. I hope he doesn't come to San Diego.

Hundreds of other hopefuls meanwhile swarmed bus stops as police made sure no one got out of control in the area. Another man took to Twitter, writing a brief thank you to the man behind the social media scavenger hunt.

    Just my opinion.

He's dropping money all over LA tonight, and this is catching on all over the nation - Dallas to DC.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...-jose/9774449/

He also plans to make a big announcement soon, but no idea what that is.

There was an elderly lady in England who did something kind of similar, but in a way where she wasn't around to get any of the glory.

The sweet thing arranged that when she passed, people from a neighborhood she lived in decades and decades before, would be sent some cash by her attorney. It was really sweet beause a lot of them were seniors and it really made a difference. And they remembered her, and were really touched, not just by the cash, but that she'd kept them in mind......though a few were a little worried I think, that they'd been sent money by mistake at first.

I'll have to see if I can find the story.

Yikes! Having trouble finding it! There are a few people in England sending cash through the mail in England, apparently!

Aahh, and now I've found one about a donation to an MS Non-profit, of thousands of dollars, being posted by mistake and being handed in.

I don't think I'm going to find that original story I was thinking of. But I do think the postal service is a better method for anyone wanting to give money to others.....I'm just not sure how much 'fun' it is for people to be searching through trash cans for cash?

ETA: In Angry Birds! I wondered what the heck they were when I saw them on twitter!
