MARTINSVILLE, Ind. Police are investigating the death of a premature baby whose parents belong to a church that preaches reliance on faith and prayer for healing.

Sarah Leeman died Saturday. She was born May 28 at the home of her parents, Louis and Patricia Leeman, Martinsville.
The Leemans belong to the General Assembly and Church of the First Born at Morgantown. In May, a Johnson County jury found another couple from the church guilty of reckless homicide for refusing to seek medical treatment to help their gravely ill newborn daughter in 2003.

Is this also a religion that considers a fetus a person, a human being, a "Citizen with rights"? If so, how hypocritical of them!

Tucked away in a remote corner of Morgan County, along a country lane that snakes through thick woods, is a little church attracting attention for the deaths of some members' babies.

At their weekly Thursday night service, the church's members prayed that God's comfort would come to the parents of the two children who have died most recently. And there were acknowledgements of the church's grief over the losses.

In a church where there is no order of worship and people pray or testify or sing or preach as they feel led by the spirit, there is a sense that the rest of the world outside the church's windowless walls doesn't get what it means to live by faith -- totally by faith.

Authorities continue to investigate the death of a premature infant whose parents are members of a church that relies on prayer to deal with medical problems.

The Leemans are members of the General Assembly and Church of the First Born in Morgantown, where many members consider it a sin to seek medical care. Another couple from the church were convicted last month of reckless homicide for refusing to seek medical treatment for their gravely ill newborn daughter in 2003
