On June 26, 2009, Donna Mosley discovered the body of her brother, Robert Allen Michalec, 47, in Hyco Lake, near his home on Lakeshore Road in Leasburg.
Michalec had last been seen the day before, fishing with two men he knew from his job as a superintendent at Trout and Riggs, a construction company...
According to the medical examiner's report, Michalec's death was the result of blunt force trauma. The Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff's Office has ruled out the possibility of the trauma being caused by an accident.

Donna said the men told investigators they dropped off Bob at the dock around 9:30 p.m. They said they shined a light on him and watched him walk up the dock. When he didnt show up for work that day, the family filed a missing persons report...
Whoever did this caught him by surprise, knew exactly where he was, she said. The area is secluded, in a cove. There are not many houses. You wouldnt go down there unless you were going there for a reason...
Sheriff Michael Welch and Capt. Frank Rose said it is still an open investigation. We have an investigator assigned to the case who works on it every week, Welch said. We reached out to the [North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations] for help with interviews, and theyre still working with us.
